Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing CABVIX and Relinx.

What makes your product unique?

CABVIX's answer

CABVIX is built around the physical layer: the rack, the patch leads and the wall outlets. Most IT documentation tools treat that as an afterthought. In CABVIX every device sits in its RU, front and rear. Every patch lead has its ports, colour and length, and every wall outlet traces back to the switch port it lands on. From that one record it draws the rack in 3D, lays out the comms room to scale and prints QR labels for racks, devices and outlets. It can also send a picture-by-picture "guided fix" link to someone on site, who doesn't need an account to follow it.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

CABVIX's answer

It's made for the people at the rack, not just the office. You can record a rack as you work on it, from a browser on a laptop or phone. Contractors get time-limited access to only the racks you choose, and a sticker scan opens the right record on the spot. Plans include several users, you can download all your data any time as spreadsheets plus a full copy, and customer records are stored in Sydney.

What's the story behind your product?

CABVIX's answer

CABVIX was built by Securatech, a security and communications contractor. After years of opening comms cabinets with no reliable record of what was patched where, we wanted documentation the technician could keep up to date while doing the job. We started with our own racks, then opened a private beta to other installers, MSPs and IT teams. Their feedback now shapes what we build next.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

CABVIX's answer

Electricians and data cablers, network integrators, managed service providers (MSPs) and in-house IT teams who install, look after or hand over comms rooms and network racks, and who need an accurate record of what's in each cabinet and where every cable goes.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

CABVIX's answer

  • Next.js
  • Cloudflare Workers
  • PostgreSQL (Supabase)

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

CABVIX's answer

  • CABVIX is currently in private beta; customer names will be added after launch

I've created Relinx as a flexible, simple CMDB / IT Asset Manager tool, but struggle with finding early users. It features workspaces, sharing, REST API, history, flexible model, etc. Source: over 5 years ago
