GNU GuixCplusplus.com is particularly recommended for beginners and intermediate C++ programmers who are looking for structured tutorials and reference materials. It can also be useful for experienced developers who want a quick reference guide or need to brush up on specific topics.

About 4 months ago (approximately the last time I wrote something here), I opted to embark on a graduate school journey at Stony Brook University, Computer Science (if you have a remote position โ Technical Writer and/or Software Engineer position โ at a non-USA company, don't hesitate to reach out). Was it the best decision to make considering less pay (if any), more theoretical undertakings and assumptions, and... - Source: dev.to / over 2 years ago
Full of wrong and/or incomplete information. I prefer cplusplus.com when I need to look up some library details. Source: about 3 years ago
For C++ I would suggest using cplusplus.com. Fantastic resource to use. Source: about 3 years ago
C++ was far from my first language. I took Modula-2 and FORTRAN in school. I knew about pointers, linked lists, etc before writing my first line of C++. I think the best way to learn is just to work on projects that interest you. Get familiar with online resources. I like cplusplus.com and cppreference.com (can get a little verbose). I'm also a big fan of w3schools.com. They have a good C++ tutorial for beginners. Source: about 3 years ago
I second this. cplusplus.com will pop up on your searches, I just blocked it. Loaded with ads and slow, and almost always less thorough than cppreference. I found geeksforgeeks OK when learning algorithms - not so much the language itself though. Source: about 3 years ago
I'm a NixOS user and I know Gobolinux is a few years older, this blogpost (from 2011) was actually useful for me at the time when I decided to pick NixOS for my workstations: https://sandervanderburg.blogspot.com/2011/12/evaluation-and-comparison-of-gobolinux.html Nowadays I'm also playing with Guix as well, I kinda love that everything can be unified in a more decent language (Guile Scheme) than Nix:... - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
> I started because I wanted Claude Code to manage my system, not just my code. I have two reactions to this. First: respectfully, this is hilarious. LLMs are good at many things, but judgement is not one of them. At the outset, this was firmly in the "terrible ideas" category. Second: sometimes from terrible ideas come great creativity. (I'm actually not sure what epistemic basis creativity flows from, if not... - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
If you're interested in what's going on with GNU in general, GUIX is awesome. It's a package manager like Nix but purely GNU (using GNU Guile scheme). It's developed in tandem with the GNU Shepherd init system (instead of systemd/sysvinit/openrc/etc.) and there are distributions based on GNU Hurd kernel (or the Linux-libre kernel). Wikipedia has a pretty good rundown [3] but I recommend booting up a VM image. It's... - Source: Hacker News / 12 months ago
You could take a look at guix [1], it's very much like nix, but is available as a package manager for other distros. [1] https://guix.gnu.org/. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
