KostlyKostly's answer:
Kostly is a dish costing tool for professional kitchens. It shows you the real food cost of each dish, based on proper units of measurement, yields, and actual data โ not estimates.
Kostly's answer:
Kostly only calculates cost when the data is sufficient. That's why every dish and subrecipe comes with a Cost Confidence indicator, so you know when you can trust the number and when it needs review.

Kostly's answer:
How the idea started
I'm a chef. And for years I made daily decisions about ingredients, menus, and prices โ without always having a clear picture of costs.
I knew what sold.
I knew what people liked. But often I didn't know what really made a profit.
What I saw in practice
In most of the restaurants I worked or collaborated with, costing was done:
roughly,
rarely,
usually in Excel.
The prices of the ingredients changed, but the food cost was not updated.
And so, dishes that we considered "strong" turned out to be loss-making in practice.
Not out of ignorance.
Out of lack of tools.
The real problem
The chef and the restaurateur are called upon to make critical decisions:
what goes on the menu
what goes out
what goes up in price
Without reliable data, these decisions are made on instinct.
And instinct is not enough for a sustainable business.
Why Kostly was created
Kostly was started to solve exactly this problem.
To have:
clear costing per dish,
real food cost,
a clear picture of profit,
without complex systems and without Excel.
A tool made from the kitchen to the business, not the other way around.
The vision
Starting in Greece, Kostly's goal is to help restaurants across Europe โ and internationally โ work with data, not assumptions.
Because a good dish deserves to be profitable.
Kostly's answer:
Kostly is built using modern web technologies including React, TypeScript, Vite and Tailwind CSS for the frontend, Supabase for authentication, database and backend services, and Stripe for subscription management and payments. AI-powered features are integrated to automate invoice scanning, recipe analysis and food cost optimization.
Kostly's answer:
Kostly is trusted by independent chefs, restaurants, cafรฉs, bars, hotels and hospitality businesses. As a growing SaaS platform, we're continuously expanding our customer base while helping food professionals simplify costing, improve profitability and save time.
Itโs in beta version now, but i see very good results so far ! Itโs really helpful and super smart.

Reminds me of what bootstrap [1] was like around a decade ago. It's gotten quite a bit bloated since then though. 1. https://getbootstrap.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago

Bootstrap used to be - and may still be - the most popular CSS framework for fast, responsive web development. It includes a set of predefined CSS classes, components, and JS plugins that make it easier to build modern design, responsive layouts, forms, navigation, and other interactive elements. It goes further than the previously covered Tailwind CSS, which focuses solely on styling. - Source: dev.to / 7 months ago
Note: The version of Bootstrap may be different. At the time of publishing this blog, the latest version is 5.3.8. You can check for the latest version from the official Bootstrap website. - Source: dev.to / 8 months ago
