Bitly
Simple AnalyticsBitly is recommended for digital marketers, social media managers, businesses seeking reliable link tracking, and anyone needing to shorten, customize, and analyze URLs for personal or professional use.
Simple Analytics is recommended for small to medium-sized businesses, bloggers, and website owners who need straightforward analytics and value privacy. Itโs particularly suitable for those looking to comply with privacy regulations without compromising on user data protection.
Bitly is a URL shortening service and a link management platform. The company Bitly, Inc., was established in 2008. It is privately held and based in New York City. Bitly shortens 600 million links per month, for social networking, SMS, and email. Bitly makes money by charging for access to aggregate data created because of many people using the shortened URLs.
The Bitly URL shortening service became popular on Twitter after it became the default URL shortening service on the website on May 6, 2009. It was subsequently replaced by Twitter's own t.co service.
The company uses HTTP 301 redirects for its links. The shortcuts are intended to be permanent and cannot be changed once they are created. URLs that are shortened with the bitly service use the bit.ly domain or any other generic domain that the service offers.
Simple Analytics might be a bit more popular than Bitly. We know about 26 links to it since March 2021 and only 23 links to Bitly. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.

Platforms like X (formerly Twitter) can block or censor links to certain sites like they recently did to Signal.me, even when those links contain important information. A link shortener or redirect may work in the short term, but sites like Bitly and TinyURL create new single points of failure when platforms block them instead. What we want to do instead is leverage unique domains, like one you may already own for... - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago

Regarding forbidden countries, itโs not forbidden in the Netherlands, yet. They will announce a verdict in a form of a report by the end of 2022 [1]. To give people an option and pink something else over Google Analytics, I have built an alternative, Simple Analytics [2]. It doesnโt use cookies or any form of tracking and you get still the useful data that 80% of the website owners need. [1]... - Source: Hacker News / about 4 years ago
It is. Most startups in the EU have to use more and more businesses in the EU. The selection is little, so way more changes to succeed if your EU based and serve both markets. I run Simple Analytics [1], which is a privacy-first analytics business from the Netherlands. I see a lot of business from the EU just because we are from the EU as well.
