The first category includes tools like Lovable or Base44. These are prompt-driven tools that can generate visually polished interfaces very quickly. They're great for demos that need to look impressive. However, they are usually frontend-focused. Once you need to store data, manage users, or connect real logic, things often become fragile. I love how AI is shaking up coding, and vibe coding seems to be the new obsession of -almost- every developer. It lets anyone, even non-coders, build apps by describing ideas in plain English. Tools like Base44, Lovable, and Cursor turn your words into working code, no syntax required. - Source: dev.to / about 1 year ago

It actually gets more complicated because there are ports of Squeak descendants than run in-browser. https://squeak.js.org is a Smalltalk virtual machine written in Javascript and that has allowed some crazy browser based stuff. https://pharojs.org PharoJS is a slightly different approach. It provides tools to deploy your Pharo developed code into the browser. Source: about 4 years ago
Oh sorry, HN usability played with our hearts :D The message was meant to this other dev, quite cool mind map: https://wiki.nikitavoloboev.xyz And I'm impressed by what you have done there. I even played a bit of DOOM heh. Your project reminded me a little bit of https://squeak.js.org in the sense of having a full OS like thing in the browser. Congrats for the achievement! - Source: Hacker News / over 4 years ago
So there is [1] https://squeak.js.org/ and [2] https://github.com/codefrau/SqueakJS which seems to be able to not only run Squeak, but also [3] https://github.com/Cuis-Smalltalk/Cuis-Smalltalk-Dev/wiki/Run-Cuis-in-the-Web-Browser.-(SqueakJS) and [4] https://github.com/carolahp/pharo on common JS-runtimes in acceptable speeds. There is also [5] https://caffeine.js.org/ and [6]... - Source: Hacker News / almost 5 years ago
