With regard to encryption tools, I use AxCrypt, which is cross-platform, but isn't free in that form. It would though encrypt each file in-place, without need for a dedicated folder or vault and encrypted file will sync with OneDrive, via the standard sync client. I would also take the further step of using a text editor that supports encryption, so that even if an attacker can read files from your computer are using the USB stick, it will still be protected. EncryptPad looks like a good easy to use option, personally I use gVIM, but it's a bit technical. EncryptPad uses industry standard GPG encryption, so the files can be read on Mac and Linux can also, if you ever change... Source: about 3 years ago

You can also use an encrypted notepad, like EncryptPad. This will password protect the text file as well. Then you have the text file password, OneDrive 2FA and Veracrypt protecting your seed phrase. Good to have if you forget to delete your seed phrase file off your PC. It's still protected even in storage. Source: over 4 years ago
