It seems to be the industry standard at least. I have played around with iPlug2 and AudioKit a little bit but not enough to really form an opinion. (iPlug2 is described by the authors as "not production ready" and AudioKit is mac / ios... Source: over 4 years ago

I've also seen: https://github.com/react-everywhere/re-start which is being used over at r/jellyfin. Problem is, it doesn't have the backing of a major company, and I can't risk my project just having support dropped out of nowhere. Source: over 5 years ago
