I believe that courses will help you to be more organized, since if you pay for something, then you are more invested in doing well. However, if you can motivate yourself to study, then I don't really think you need courses. These days, there are a lot of free resources like blogs and videos available. There are quite a lot of ways to run scripting languages in C#. I've no idea what JSR223 is but .NET has DLR for example.
