CueForge is a subtitle and caption editor that runs in the browser. Everything happens on your device. The files you open, including audio you transcribe, never get uploaded. The only network calls it makes are a Pro licence check and a cookieless page-view count.
The free tier reads and writes SRT, WebVTT, SBV, and ASS/SSA in both directions, and it handles QC checks, file repair, timing shift and retime, cue-by-cue styling, and authoring from scratch. No account required.
Pro is $99 a year or $12 a month, with a 7-day trial. It adds the broadcast and platform formats: SCC (CEA-608), MCC (CEA-708), EBU-STL, TTML, iTunes iTT, and EBU-TT-D. You also get frame-rate conversion, drift correction, audio auto-resync, QC compliance reports as CSV or printable output, custom QC presets, and batch conversion of a folder into a ZIP. On-device transcription produces a timed, word-aligned draft that you then edit by hand.
Before any conversion, CueForge shows a loss matrix for that specific format pair, so you can see what data will not survive the round trip. The built-in QC presets cover Netflix (Latin and Arabic), YouTube, and a generic profile. Right-to-left and bidirectional text, including Arabic and Hebrew, is carried through the whole pipeline.

Nothing you open ever leaves your machine: conversion, QC, and even transcription run locally in the browser tab, so subtitle files for embargoed or NDA'd content stay on your device. And before any conversion it shows a loss matrix for that exact format pair, spelling out which styling, positioning, and timing data will survive and which won't. Other tools convert silently and let you discover the damage in review.

The common web converters upload your files to someone's server, and most tools convert between formats without telling you what got destroyed along the way. CueForge started from those two annoyances: build an editor where files never leave the device, and be upfront about exactly what each format conversion loses instead of pretending the round trip is clean. QC came next, because checking against a delivery spec by hand is the least fun part of the job.

Man, just happened the same to me. I was transcribing some clases using the large model and theres a point in the video that the teacher gets a 5 minute break, and what happens? I get the following (https://imgur.com/a/8HQdpng). It is in spanish but says, brought by amara.org, which is a web that subtitltles things and then a lot of ads. Source: over 3 years ago

The best thing is Amara, and is in fact what Google shunted in place when they removed community captioning, giving creators a whole 3 months (or something similarly piddly) of one of their paid services for free. It's not an equivalent experience though, as folks have to go elsewhere AND know a volunteer-captioned video exists in the first place. Separate but equal is not equal. Source: over 3 years ago
