Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing alphasense and EPTA5.

What makes your product unique?

EPTA5's answer:

Two things. First, depth that normally sits behind an institutional licence: macroeconomic series cross-referenced back to 1940, equity history from each company's IPO rather than an arbitrary cutoff, and 1,100+ seasonal patterns you can screen by win rate, Sharpe and drawdown. Second, BRAIN AI is constrained to query EPTA5's own data for any numerical claim, cites the series behind every figure, and refuses to answer rather than invent one. It also runs on your own provider key, which stays in the session and is never written to disk.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

EPTA5's answer:

Because the alternatives force a choice between depth and price. Institutional terminals cost 12,000 to 30,000 USD per seat per year, which puts them out of reach for an independent manager or a small advisory firm. Consumer platforms are affordable but stop at surface data, with macro series that end where the free source ended. EPTA5 starts at 48 EUR per month with institutional sources behind it: IMF, OECD, BIS, World Bank, Eurostat, INSEE. Every chart cites its underlying series, so any number can be audited back to source rather than trusted on faith.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

EPTA5's answer:

Serious individual investors, independent wealth advisors and CGPs, family offices, and finance students or researchers. In short, anyone who needs institutional-grade data and has no institutional budget. It is deliberately not built to replace a tier-one trading desk terminal.

What's the story behind your product?

EPTA5's answer:

It started with the same evening repeated too often: five browser tabs, three Excel exports, and a macro series that stops in 2010 because the free source stopped there. Four years of hands-on market practice, then studying how trading desks actually work, from small hedge funds to large institutions, made the gap obvious: the data existed, but only behind a five-figure annual licence.

Three years of building followed, from architecture to payment. The hardest part was BRAIN AI, an agent that refuses to answer rather than invent a figure. EPTA5 is published by EPTA5 INC., a French SAS registered in Paris, and 5 % of yearly revenue is donated to humanitarian causes under a commitment written into the company bylaws.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

EPTA5's answer:

React, Next.js and TypeScript on the front end, with Three.js and D3 for the data visualisations. Python for the data pipelines. Cloudflare Workers for a serverless edge architecture, with R2 and D1 for storage. Stripe for payments. BRAIN AI is a RAG design constrained to EPTA5's own datasets, and supports Groq, Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT, Grok and Mistral through the user's own API key.
