So I downloaded the ATLauncher (https://atlauncher.com/) which is basically a tool for installing modpacks in Minecraft. So I downloaded the windows version, scanned the setup in virustotal and it came up with these results: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/28272caadd4df846e1f19ca4c5932fa3ec0348f0e36a8e1395a30b2a005c7656/detection. I would suggest using MultiMC, GDLauncher, or ATLauncher as they allow for easy mod support, multiple instances as well as just looking and functioning better! The above, however, only work with the JAVA edition of Minecraft. HMU if you need anymore help :D. Source: almost 3 years ago

Multiplayer modding is still very much alive and well. There is both the client-side route (where everyone uses a modpack tool like https://atlauncher.com/) or the successor to Bukkit, Spigot (and its High-performance fork, PaperMC: https://papermc.io/) Spigot/Paper are bukkit-compatible and you can load modpacks from the spigot.org site, or even bukkit.org, which is still operational to this day. ATLauncher, a prominent player in the world of Minecraft launchers, has consistently garnered a strong reputation among users, praised for its functionality, user-friendliness, and adaptability. It holds a unique niche, especially favored for its compatibility with low-end PCs, making it a popular choice for a broad range of gamers.
User-Friendly Features: A standout feature of ATLauncher is its simplicity and efficiency in managing modpacks. Its interface offers easy and quick installation of modpacks directly from the launcher itself. This is complemented by seamless integration with popular mod repositories, such as Modrinth and CurseForge, allowing users the flexibility to browse and install mods effortlessly.
Another significant advantage is ATLauncher's ability to support multiple instances of Minecraft. This means players can run different versions or mod configurations simultaneously, a functionality highly appreciated by gamers who enjoy experimenting with various setups. Additionally, the automatic management of Java versions ensures that each modpack runs on the appropriate Java version, further simplifying the user experience.
Community Feedback and Reliability: ATLauncher's community feedback is largely positive, with users citing it as a reliable alternative to older launchers like Technic. Reviews often highlight the application's modern features and improved performance over its predecessors. Some users suggest other launchers like Prism Launcher, GDLauncher, and MultiMC as alternatives but frequently include ATLauncher as a strong contender, indicating its favorable reputation in comparison to other tools.
Security Concerns: However, ATLauncher has recently faced criticism regarding security considerations. Discussions on public forums have reported instances of the setup files triggering malware warnings on platforms like VirusTotal. These findings have raised concerns about potential security vulnerabilities, although some argue these detections could be attributed to false positives. Despite these concerns, many users continue to use ATLauncher without reporting adverse effects, suggesting that while security fears exist, they have not significantly swayed the core user base away from the platform.
Broader Appeal and Recommendations: Throughout various online discussions, ATLauncher is recommended alongside other popular launchers such as TLauncher, MultiMC, and Technic Launcher. It is particularly recognized for its robust feature set that augments the Minecraft gaming experience, offering essential mod support and a stable environment for multiplayer modding activities. Its inclusion in numerous "best of" lists for Minecraft launchers underscores its credibility and appeal among both new and seasoned players.
