This seems to be a common issue; it happened to both me and my friends. I would suggest using MultiMC, GDLauncher, or ATLauncher as they allow for easy mod support, multiple instances as well as just looking and functioning better! The above, however, only work with the JAVA edition of Minecraft. HMU if you need anymore help :D.

ATLauncher is a launcher which has many groups made mod packs for the prominent sandbox game Minecraft.
