  I did a DNA test from livingdna.com and did some ancestry work through ancestry.com. I have lineage in Scotland, Ireland, Wales, England, the Netherlands, and Germany. • My Dad's last name is Irish but his 23andme is 89% Italian (tiny bit of Greek) and 10% middle eastern. His mom's side is very Italian but the dad's family was Irish. Just confused why.   I would do a tree and maybe get an ancestry.com test for your dad. Ancestry has a lot more trees than 23andme and automatically splits up the matches from maternal and paternal side so super easy to figure things out. Source: over 2 years ago

  I was quite happy with my experience. I had a handful of brick walls dating back to the mid 1800's in the UK that I'd made no progress with for years. I researched professional UK genealogists and the whole process was quite easy. The genealogist did a good job and it wasn't prohibitively pricey. Far cheaper than dropping $3K with ancestry.com.   I would be all for reparations if there was legitimate way to make it work but it's impossible to make happen for so may reasons.
