Anyway, it was like over 10 years ago that I was learning Japanese, so I think I mostly used what I could get on an early model ipod touch. IIRC the main resource I'd use was just for words basically, some early dual-language dictionary app and https://jisho.org. I do remember liking the Tobira textbook for the way it had a summary of grammar points.

Today, for words I use a monolingual dictionary as much as possible (often you end up needing to look up many words in a chain to figure out your initial word, but that doesn't bother me so much for whatever reason); I see this also as reading practice. I'll also use https://www.reverso.net/ for short phrases if they don't seem to make sense despite thinking I know each word or structure. Additionally, I have a grammar textbook that basically explains a large number of grammar constructs with examples in a page or two. If I want to understand a specific construct better, I just look it up in there. Also, sometimes I'll just write a sentence into web search, something like "what is the difference between ___ and ___" in my target language and have found some sites that often explain such things. And https://hinative.com/ is great too if you have specialized questions that you don't really know how to ask or can't find out about elsewhere.
