Strong recommendation for organic maps on Google. <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.organicmaps">https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.organicmap...</a> It's still OpenStreetMaps, but presented in a much easier mobile app with an experience closer to Google maps than, say, OsmAnd+ Google continues it's enshittification and this was one of the last things I started missing due to reasons very similar to the article... The usefulness of Google maps has declined significantly. Organic maps (streets, utilities and businesses) coupled with something like Citymapper (public transport routing) and Waze (car navigation) offer a far better experience than Google maps ever attained in the UK.
