Here is a suggestion. Try a theme from the likes of https://jekyllthemes.io which has mostly Github Pages friendly themes. Buy it once, set it up on Github Pages. You won't have to pay the monthly hosting free. Or, your photography is growing and looking for just a photos-focused hosting with a little bit of a payment (perhaps cheaper than SquareSpace), then try https://500px.com or https://www.smugmug.com (the... - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago

I can't figure it out why some websites (and app) are not correctly displaying things when mullvadvpn is active. The one website (and only, so far) that is giving me problems is https://500px.com/ which doesn't load pictures. Same thing with the app on Android. I'm using default settings and I've tried a bunch of servers, no fix so far. Source: almost 3 years ago
I'd recommend looking in 500px.com . Go to "Discover->Popular" then find the "Categories" button and select "Travel". Source: about 3 years ago
An NFT as well as it's owner are stored on the blockchain (BTC Blockchain, Etherium Blockchain, etc.) As an artist myself - if I wanted to - I could sell digital work via this technology. It's surle an intersting alternative to traditional plattforms like www.saatchiart.com, 500px.com, or etsy.com. The Blockchain is nothing more than a decentralized*, digital, currency trading plattform. It's transparent: Any... Source: over 3 years ago

I haven't seen anyone mention 500px.com, I am new to photography, but they support a free tier... Is there a reason I'm unaware of that makes it unpopular? Source: almost 4 years ago
Here's another idea for you. Jump over to 500px.com and in the search area put 50mm 1.2 and look at the photos. Then change the search to 50mm 1.8 and look at the photos. Maybe add 85mm 1.8 and look at those too. Seeing the difference (or lack thereof) may be helpful. You can click into a photo and usually see the make/model of the camera and lens being used. Ruby on Rails is a server-side website technology that makes app development much easier and faster. The thing that really sets this framework apart is the reusability of the code as well as some other cool features that will help you get the job done in no time. Popular websites written with Ruby include Basecamp, Ask.fm, GitHub, 500px, and many others. - Source: dev.to / over 4 years ago
The images are "Second Life" CGI, and they are fairly disgusting to me as well. There are other photography sites: smugmug.com, pexels.us, pixabay.com, unsplash.com, 500px.com, shutterstock.com, etc. Smugmug is the only one that comes close to the searching you can do on Flickr. I start with a map and look for State and National Parks. I Google them and look at images. I go to 500px.com and search on the names there and look at other's images. It gives me some idea of the area and if it looks interesting. Source: almost 5 years ago
.png files have worked best for me. But, you can also embed images from Flickr, which is legal as long as you don't change the embed code: https://help.flickr.com/en_us/share-or-embed-flickr-photos-or-albums-rJBx6mjyX. Or 500PX another popular photo-sharing site: https://500px.com/. The quality of the web hosting should also be taken into account, use paid not free ones. Source: about 5 years ago
500px, as a platform within the diverse ecosystem of image hosting and social networking, garners mixed yet nuanced appreciations from the photographic community. Known for its commitment to high-quality imagery and professional user engagement, 500px is often discussed alongside competitors like Flickr, Imgur, and SmugMug, with which it shares market space.
Professional Focus and High-Quality Imagery
500px stands out for its emphasis on high-quality image presentation, catering predominantly to photographers seeking a platform dedicated to their craft. Several users value its meritocratic photo discovery features, such as the โDiscover->Popularโ section, which surfaces the best work based on community ratings rather than algorithmic biases, making it an attractive option for both showcasing top-grade photography and seeking inspiration.
Free and Paid Plans
The platform supports both free and paid plans, making it accessible for novices and professionals alike. While some users are content with its free offerings, others appreciate the affordability of its paid tiers, which compare favorably against more expensive alternatives like SquareSpace. However, it is crucial to note that 500px is not designed for storing files like RAW formats, limiting its utility as a comprehensive cloud storage solution.
Functionality with VPNs
There are technical issues reported by users regarding compatibility with VPN services, specifically Mullvad VPN. Such challenges can hinder user experience, especially when accessibility across different network configurations is pivotal for international users.
Image Licensing and Market Perception
500px has carved a niche in licensing and professional sales, appealing to photographers who aim to monetize their work. However, discussions about alternative methods, such as blockchain technologies for art sales, suggest some community members are seeking platforms offering more transparent and decentralized sales processes, albeit this reflects broader industry shifts rather than platform-specific shortcomings.
Community Engagement
While being recognized as a favorable social network for photographers, the perceived downsides include its lesser popularity compared to social behemoths like Instagram. Some nascent photographers question its community size and engagement level, which might impact the reach and visibility of their work.
500px competes with well-established platforms like Google Photos and Adobe Bridge, where functionalities tilt more towards comprehensive solutions encompassing broader photo management and editing tools. Platforms like SmugMug, with its acquisition of Flickr, pose formidable challenges through enhanced feature sets and integrations that appeal to a broader spectrum of photographers, from hobbyists to seasoned professionals.
500px remains a distinguished platform, highly regarded among dedicated photographic circles for its focus on quality imagery and professional presentation. Highlighting its value proposition as a social network for photographers, it faces opportunities in expanding its feature set and improving compatibility issues while navigating competitive challenges in a crowded image-hosting market. Its future will likely rely on balancing high-caliber community interactions with technological advancements to meet evolving user expectations.
