Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing YuniApp.
  1. What makes YuniApp unique?

Yuni makes the partner the primary user. You enter her cycle dates once on your own phone. Open it in the morning and it shows the phase she is likely in, plus what to do and what to avoid today. She installs nothing and shares no data.

Her dates stay on your device, with no account and no cloud, unless you switch on sync yourself.

  2. Why should a person choose YuniApp over its competitors?

Flo, Clue and Cycles need her to install the app, track her own data, and switch on sharing. Most partners never get past the first step. Yuni needs your phone and one setup screen.

The trackers answer her question: when is my next period, when am I fertile. Yuni answers yours: what does she need from me today. Few apps in this category run on Apple Watch, and fewer work without an account

  3. How would you describe the primary audience of YuniApp?

Boyfriends and husbands whose partner menstruates, who want to help and cannot tell what helps. Long-distance couples use it most, since you cannot read the room from another city. So do partners of someone with PMS or PMDD, where the bad days arrive on a schedule you can learn.

Yuni has a tracking mode for her too, so some couples run it on both phones and pair with one link.

  4. What's the story behind YuniApp?

The founder kept having the same argument with his girlfriend. The trigger changed each time, and it kept landing in the same week of her cycle. He lined the fights up against the dates and could see them coming.

He wanted one thing on his home screen: a widget that told him how to behave today, before he said the wrong thing. Nothing like it existed, so he built it for himself. The widget turned into an app and shipped on the App Store in February 2026.

  5. Which are the primary technologies used for building YuniApp?

iOS app: Swift and SwiftUI, iOS 17 or later. SwiftData for local storage, WidgetKit for home screen widgets, ActivityKit for Live Activities, HealthKit for optional Apple Health sync, and a watchOS app with three complication types.

Backend and web: TypeScript on Hono and Node, Postgres via Supabase with Drizzle, an Astro landing site, and a Vite plus React web app. Hosted on DigitalOcean App Platform.

Third party: Adapty for subscriptions, PostHog for product analytics, Sentry for crash reporting, Resend for email.

  6. Who are some of the biggest customers of YuniApp?

    • Individuals. Yuni sells to people rather than companies, so there are no enterprise accounts or logos to list here
    • One plan covers one phone, normally the partner's
    • Couples who run both the supporting and the tracking mode need a plan on each phone
