    Endless price increases

We use Xero for many of our clients. It works fine, not AI features yet, but they keep raising prices way more than the rate of inflation. We're looking for other providers.

Summary of the public mentions of Xero

Summary of Public Opinion on Xero

Xero, a cloud-based accounting software tailored for small and medium-sized businesses, is frequently highlighted in reviews and discussions due to its user-friendly interface and robust feature set. Public opinion generally praises Xero for its ability to simplify financial management, offering tools that include invoicing, expense tracking, bank reconciliation, payroll, and financial reporting. However, opinions also reflect challenges users face concerning pricing strategies and the scope of its features when compared to competitors like QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, and Zoho Books.

Positive Aspects
  1. Accessibility and Usability: Users commend Xero for its intuitive user experience and easy setup, even for non-accountants. The platform's compatibility with devices such as smartphones, tablets, and computers ensures that businesses can manage their finances on the go. The software is also one of the few in its category to offer Apple Watch access, enhancing convenience.

  2. Integration Capabilities: Xero sets itself apart with a vast array of over 700 app integrations. This advantage expands its functionality into various domains like CRM, e-commerce, time tracking, payroll, and point-of-sale systems, making it a versatile choice for diverse business needs.

  3. User Support and Training: Xero provides substantial support through Xero Central, offering extensive guides and training materials. Discussion forums further enrich user experience by offering insights and troubleshooting advice from other users. The platformโ€™s support infrastructure is seen as a strong selling point for businesses looking to get the most out of their accounting software.

  4. Pricing Model: Xero offers a range of pricing tiers, starting as low as $15/month. Its ability to support unlimited users within these tiers is beneficial for growing businesses that need scalable financial management solutions.

Criticisms and Challenges
  1. Pricing and Plan Changes: Despite competitive introductory pricing, feedback indicates dissatisfaction with sudden pricing adjustments, particularly affecting features like payroll. The discontinuation of the Payroll-Only plan underscores this concern, as many users seek comparable alternatives at a lower cost due to revised pricing structures.

  2. Feature Limitations: While Xero is praised for its streamlined approach, some users point out that the platform may lack comprehensive project management capabilities, necessitating third-party integrations for more extensive management needs. This limitation might prompt users to explore integrated platforms that offer more holistic solutions.

  3. Market Positioning: Though Xero is celebrated as a QuickBooks alternative, some potential users highlight apprehensions about scaling beyond its basic functions. As businesses grow more complex, certain users migrate to more feature-complete solutions that offer broader, specialized functionalities.

In conclusion, Xero continues to be recognized as a formidable player in the cloud-based accounting software market, especially valued by small to medium-sized businesses. Its strengths lie in its user-centric design, extensive app integration, and comprehensive support resources. However, pricing strategy and feature depth remain key areas where Xero must navigate challenges to maintain its competitive edge. As users weigh alternatives, Xero's evolution in addressing these points will be crucial for sustaining its reputation as a reliable accounting software solution.

Getting worse by the minute. Have been using it for many years and prices go up, whilst speeds and functionality go down. They don't listen to the customers at all anymore, and the extra 'options' they are adding are those that no one seems to want (but they do feel that they can up the price yet again, just because they added something). Terrible experience nowadays.

The status quo in Aus & NZ. It's not bad at all; but, you don't have an alternative in most cases.
