Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing WToolsKit.
  1. What makes WToolsKit unique?

Every tool runs entirely in your browser — files, code and data never leave your device. Results are instant, privacy is total, and most tools even work offline (PWA). 117+ tools across 10 categories, zero sign-up, in 16 languages.

  2. Why should a person choose WToolsKit over its competitors?

Three reasons: (1) Privacy — everything is processed locally with JavaScript/WebAssembly, nothing is ever uploaded to a server. (2) Breadth — 117+ tools in one place, from JSON/regex/JWT dev utilities to image compression, OCR, PDF merge/split and audio/video trimming. (3) Zero friction — free, no account, no usage limits, works offline and in 16 languages. Many alternatives cover only a single category or upload your files to their servers.

  3. How would you describe the primary audience of WToolsKit?

Developers and designers who need quick daily utilities (formatters, encoders, converters, generators), plus students and general users looking for calculators, PDF and image tools — anyone who wants a fast, private, no-signup tool without installing software.

  4. Which are the primary technologies used for building WToolsKit?

Next.js (App Router + static export), React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS. Client-side processing via WebAssembly: FFmpeg for audio/video, jsquash for image codecs (PNG/JPEG/WebP/AVIF), pdf-lib for PDF, PaddleOCR for text recognition, CodeMirror for editors. i18n via next-intl (16 languages).

  5. What's the story behind WToolsKit?

WToolsKit didn't start as a product — it started as a pile of small scripts I kept rewriting for my own daily work: formatting JSON, converting images, decoding Base64, trimming audio, generating QR codes. Every time I needed one of those, the options were an ad-heavy website that uploaded my files to a server, or installing yet another desktop app.

So I started building my own versions and keeping them in one place, with three self-imposed rules: everything must run in the browser (files never leave your device), everything must be free with no sign-up, and each tool should do one job quickly and stay out of the way.

That personal toolbox gradually grew into wtoolskit.com — now 117+ tools across developer utilities, text, image, video/audio, PDF and CSS, localized into 16 languages and installable as a PWA. New tools are still added the same way: something I need myself, or something users request through the feedback button.
