I'd recommend using windy.com if you want to check weather conditions across a wide area easily and quickly. That would be a good resource to check daily weather conditions to see if I80 is a safe option. Weather conditions can change quickly, and honestly there might be some days where I40 has worse weather than I80 since these things can be fairly localized. I'd say just check conditions before you leave and... Source: 5 months ago
Windy.com looks pretty cool. But just wondering if there is one specifically made to be a "weather station". Source: 7 months ago
The Windy app lets you choose from 5 models. It's also usable at https://windy.com . Learned about this app from KPIX meteorologist Darren Peck, who sometimes uses it during his on-air segments. Source: 8 months ago
Here's a reading Aug 15 at 6:19pm. Well the air outside absolutely sucks today. Filled with smoke. Going on windy.com and clicking air quality, then PM2.5 we see a huge cloud coming down from the north and of course we have a north wind today. There are 2 huge fires in northern Alberta. https://www.windy.com/-PM2-5-pm2p5?cams,pm2p5,55.553,-100.327,5,m:fcAadg7. Source: 8 months ago

I am a learning glider pilot, and I would love to see some resources I can use to plan my flights. We are currently recommended to use our national systems or windy.com, but I'd like to know whether there is a website with information focused more on gliding. Source: 10 months ago
It is also interesting to note one of the conclusions was that it must have been planets or cygnus viewed through a temperature inversion. They do have atmospheric data from the excellent BOM, but they totally dismiss it strictly on Melbourne airport having no radar returns. - In partnership with BOM (bureau of meteorology) you should also be sure to check this excellent app... Almost too much data! windy.com. Source: 10 months ago
I use windy.com, it's the most accurate I've found. Source: 10 months ago

As far as meteo and briefing, check windy.com, the Icon D2 model, thermals, clouds and wind. Check foehn forecast religiously https://www.meteocentrale.ch/en/weather/foehn-and-bise/foehn.html, also check sahara dust, especially if its southerly or westerly wind, it can totally ruin a day https://www.zamg.ac.at/cms/de/umwelt/luftqualitaetsvorhersagen/schadstofftransport/?imgtype=0, also check... I like this map: https://fire.airnow.gov/# in combination with windy.com . The really bad air often moves in a clump and by zooming out to the area surrounding WI you can see that bad air coming. Windy will give you an idea of the path the bad air is likely to follow. The lake, for example, will sometimes form a wind barrier that will deflect bad air away. Source: 10 months ago

Looking at windy.com, you were getting boosted along by a ~70 knot tailwind. Even so, putting the speed and altitude into a calculator, it was pretty much at the max mach allowed for that aircraft. Makes sense considering you ended up arriving 15 mins before curfew. Source: 11 months ago
Go to windy.com you can see the wind direction for next week, it's from the south, the race will be fine. Source: 11 months ago
We had this for a few days in 2020 in the Bay Area. N95 masks, daily checks of https://map.purpleair.com/ and of course windy.com for predictions. You'll get through it. Hang in there! Source: 11 months ago
