  Chromium is the open-source project that Google Chrome is based on. It used to use the Webkit browser engine, but Google created their own fork (their own version) of Webkit called Blink which is what Chromium (and Google Chrome) use now.   So far the only thing that I see these apps have in common is that they are using webkit Web Engine. Yes even the apps I made, I made them using NW.JS, a framework that allows you to make desktop apps using web programming(HTML+CSS+JavaScript).
