  • Show HN: I made an online Unicode Cuneiform digital clock
Thank you! By all means, I'd love to see it. I actually have a programmable watch [0] that I want to put it on. And the ultimate goal is a non-screen-based hardware version of this. [0] https://watchy.sqfmi.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • Google open sourced PebbleOS, so we're bringing Pebble back
Love this! After my Pebble I tried an e-ink "Watchy" from SQFMI (https://watchy.sqfmi.com/) thinking that the battery life would be great but the battery only lasted a few days. I've been wearing a Bangle 2 (https://www.espruino.com/Bangle.js2) which feels closest to recreating my Pebble. It has super long battery life and feels a lot like my Pebble did, but doesn't have the polish of the pebble UI and animations.... - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
  • Google Has Open-Sourced the Pebble Smartwatch Operating System
The original was Watchy: https://watchy.sqfmi.com/ Not only can you run anything you want on it but it supports the Arduino IDE and Micropython. I assume all of the Alibaba ones are based off of Watchy. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
  • CapibaraZero: A cheap alternative to FlipperZero based on ESP32-S3
I wish this functionality was in Watchy v3 (https://watchy.sqfmi.com/), which is also based on EPS32-S3. - Source: Hacker News / 12 months ago
  • A tiny radioactive battery could keep your future phone running for 50 years
A modern smartphone, no, not currently. Feature phones maybe, if made specifically with low-power parts. Personally I'm interested in putting this in a watchy [0], that can get around on tens of microwatts average consumption because of deep sleep states and an e-paper screen. • Why is a mood tracker from 2016 still the best?
I just learned about the Watchy e-paper watches and feel like they scratch much the same itch. https://watchy.sqfmi.com/. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago

  • The Quest for a Simple Smartwatch
I don't care for watches but someone mentioned Watchy [0] on Lemmy yesterday and I'm thinking about getting one just for fun. [0] https://watchy.sqfmi.com/. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Other e-paper smart watches.
Watchy is a open source e-paper watch. https://watchy.sqfmi.com/. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Over 16,000 people still use a Pebble smartwatch
Https://watchy.sqfmi.com/ And it's cool, but it's extremely basic, a bit bulky and ugly, and has all the drawbacks of E-Paper. Pebble would have been perfect. If they still sold them I would buy one today. It's tragic the company went under so quickly. But I don't really want to buy a second hand smartwatch, and I don't see the point in investing into something that will never be updated and has no support. All... - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago

  • Tidbyt hardware display device: a review
In case you weren't aware of it, this watch[1] might interest you. Open-source hardware and software. I'll probably end up getting one for Christmas this year. [1] https://watchy.sqfmi.com/. - Source: Hacker News / over 3 years ago
