  • Digitalfaq.com, Refurb Gear from LordSmurf Trustworthy? Resale value hold up?
Hey folks, new to data storage and analog tape conversions, but I'm picking up a project to convert an archive of old Hi8 tapes to digital; in my research, I've found a ton of great articles and posts both on this subreddit and over at digitalfaq.com. Seems like many posts on that forum are written by site staff LordSmurf, who is well-known even on this platform and videohelp.com, and his advice is often referred... Source: 10 months ago
  • Digitizing Video CDs, how can I do it?
Head over to videohelp.com (which began as VCDHelp in the early 2000's) for lots of detailed info about Video CDs. Source: 10 months ago
  • Chances to get a quality VCR from a thrift shop?
Who is lordsmurf? Arguably THE video capture guru! Many argue with and have tried to discredit him and his call for proper equipment and capture techniques, but in the over 15 years I've followed him at videohelp.com and digitalfaq.com (his home), have never proven him wrong! • Guide to transferring VHS tapes to digital on an iMac for $10.
In my other posts, I've linked to videohelp.com (where the is lordsmurf and other experts in the field) discussing the EasyCrap pictured (which isn't an upscaler) and so much more about video capture the RIGHT WAY! Also visit digitalfaq.com, which is the home of lordsmurf. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Rip Blu-Ray Movie, Edit, Then Put on Another Blu-Ray Disc??
If you want to know more, head over the videohelp.com and thoroughly search before you ask about editing. It's been discussed numerous times and if you do ask, there are several true experts in the video field there. I won't name them because I'm sure I'll miss a few. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Ingesting Beta Tapes
He's often MIA from videohelp.com for extended months and even at DFAQ, which is his home with a limited staff, he'll sometimes not post anything for months. Others and I thank the stars and breathe a sigh of relief when he returns! Source: about 1 year ago
  • Ingesting Beta Tapes
But I'll add something he doesn't post about much at digitalfaq.com or videohelp.com. He suffers from MS and possibly other issues that causes him to be unable to work and respond to customers, sometimes for months at a time. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Ingesting Beta Tapes
Then head over to videohelp.com and search for Beta capture. Lots of threads and there are a few professionals (including lordsmurf) there. Source: about 1 year ago

Lots of discussion at videohelp.com https://www.videohelp.com/search?q=repair+video+header . Search and ask there. If it's just a corrupted header, the process is to repair/replace it with a version from a known good version from the same source. Source: about 1 year ago

The one I use for my wife is MKVToolNix GUI for windows. It gives options to delay or start the audio so syncing is fairly easy. It's free at videohelp.com and has several guides to help. Source: over 1 year ago
  • A properly working Topaz VEAI
The part about Dione properly detecting interlacing is critical to upscale and deinterlace 480i and 576i content (via Virtualdub2, Avisynth+, and Huffyuv lossless AVI). You can find the original Directshow version of Huffyuv 2.1.1 on videohelp.com . I haven't tried the 64bit version. Post if it works. The FFMPEG Huffyuv in Virtualdub2 does not work. The FFMPEG AVI save function does not work. You have to use the... Source: over 1 year ago
