Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Verid.dev.
  1. What's the story behind Verid.dev?

Verid was born from a gap that I had faced while working on another product of mine that is: existing change-monitoring tools are visual-diff first and built for non-technical users, while scraping APIs are stateless one-shot tools with no scheduling or diffing. Developers who wanted "tell me when this specific field changes, via a signed webhook" had to glue together cron jobs, scrapers, and notification code themselves. Verid packages that whole pipeline, scheduled checks, structured extraction, field-level diffing, and reliable delivery into one product.

  2. What makes Verid.dev unique?

Verid is extraction-first, not visual-diff first. Instead of alerting when a page looks different, it extracts the exact fields you care about — with CSS, XPath, JSONPath, regex, or AI and fires only when your condition is met, like "price dropped more than 5%" or "stock changed from out to in." Changes arrive as structured JSON through signed webhooks with automatic retries, a dead-letter queue, and replay. No other change-monitoring tool combines field-level alert conditions with developer-grade webhook delivery.

  3. Why should a person choose Verid.dev over its competitors?

Three reasons. First, structured output: you get JSON like {"price": 49.99, "stock": "in_stock"}, not a screenshot or an AI summary you have to parse. Second, no feature gating: every paid plan includes the full REST API, signed webhooks, Slack/Discord delivery, and all extraction methods higher tiers add capacity, not previously-withheld features, so there's no pricing surprise when you need API access or a second delivery channel. Third, reliable delivery: webhooks are HMAC-signed, retried with exponential backoff, and replayable from the dashboard.

  4. How would you describe the primary audience of Verid.dev?

Developers and technical teams who want change monitoring as infrastructure, an API, webhooks, and config-as-code. Second, operators who don't code: indie hackers, e-commerce founders, marketers, and researchers tracking competitor prices, job listings, stock levels, or regulatory pages through a simple URL-paste form and a templates gallery.

  5. Which are the primary technologies used for building Verid.dev?

TypeScript end to end. Next.js and React power the dashboard and REST API, a Node.js worker fleet handles scheduled checks with BullMQ job queues on Redis, Playwright drives real headless-browser rendering for JavaScript-heavy pages, and PostgreSQL stores monitors, run history, and diffs.
