BTW, if you just want to hide menubar icons and don't use BTT, Vanilla is a pretty cool app that does this. I actually use it alongside BTT, so Vanilla hides some menubar icons permanently that I don't ever want to see and then I use BTT to only shows those that I want to see at some point. This isn't the solution you're looking for, but I've had similar issues, so this might help. At first I bought the Vanilla app. They have a free version. I forgot the difference between the 2 but it was worth it to me. It basically hides everything you put to the left of it. And you can set a shortcut key to toggle it open and close if you do want to see the rest of your menubar items. Source: over 4 years ago
