  • Everything I install and set up on a new MacBook as a web developer
If I’m recording a full screen capture for videos, I like to hide the app icons at the top of the screen. I use Vanilla for this. - Source: dev.to / 4 months ago
  • Free alternative to Bartender besides Hidden Bar on M1 MBP 14"
Vanilla. But here you are sure to find more of your liking. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Free Alternatives to Bartender?
I use (and quite like) Vanilla. https://matthewpalmer.net/vanilla/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Turn off the Evernote Helper
This is a more general solution. But I really like this one to get control over what I want to hide https://matthewpalmer.net/vanilla/. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Is there and app to keep Date & Time from dimming in menubar when in focus mode?
BTW, if you just want to hide menubar icons and don't use BTT, Vanilla is a pretty cool app that does this. I actually use it alongside BTT, so Vanilla hides some menubar icons permanently that I don't ever want to see and then I use BTT to only shows those that I want to see at some point. I really appreciate this! Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Handy utility applications for macOS
There’s an app called Vanilla that I used for a min but isn’t quite as customizable from my memory. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Productivity Tools I Use
Bartender - For managing your menu bar. I used to use Vanilla, but with the notch in newer MacBook Pros, Bartender made the menubar more usable when dealing with lots of menubar icons. - Source: dev.to / almost 2 years ago
  • First own Macbook, any ”must have apps“?
Alfred as a spotlight replacement that works amazingly. Dockey to change dock settings. Vanilla or Bartender for managing your menu bar. Fantastical is a great calendar app for all Apple devices. And Spark as a good email client. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Is there a way to get more space in the “top bar” ?
If you want free, there's an app called Vanilla. It's free but has fewer bells and whistles. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Bartender 4 or Dozer if I only want to hide icons for M1 Pro MacBook Pro?
HiddenBar (AppStore) and Vanilla are both paid apps, but good as well. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Apple Says Notch is a 'Smart Way' to Give Users More Space for Content on New MacBook Pros
Pick up Vanilla and sort your right-side icons to show the most important all the time, then mediumly important ones visible with a single click, and then even hide any icons you care nothing about. There's also Bartender that's similar with some additional features. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Request: does anyone has a good menu hiding app?
I have been using Vanilla (the free version), but it doesn't always allow me to collapse the menu whenever the Menu of the app takes a lot of space on the left example:. Source: about 3 years ago
  • I have WAY TOO MANY apps w/ menu bar icons... help!
This isn't the solution you're looking for, but I've had similar issues, so this might help. At first I bought the Vanilla app. They have a free version. I forgot the difference between the 2 but it was worth it to me. It basically hides everything you put to the left of it. And you can set a shortcut key to toggle it open and close if you do want to see the rest of your menubar items. Source: about 3 years ago
