Lookback, Usability Hub (now called Lyssna) and Validately but have been spoiled by former employers who had the budget for usertesting.com so I'm pretty out of the loop on low-budget options. TIA! Source: over 2 years ago
I need to recruit 5-6 parents/grandparents for a study and I'm having trouble finding a company I can use (aside from usertesting.com since they tailor to large companies and I'm doing freelance work). Every company I've come across offers recruitment for surveys, but not interviews. Source: over 2 years ago

If you have access to user interviewers in the space, that would be your best bet. The other way that's not as great but still doable is to find them on usertesting.com. You'll be able to define the type of user you're looking for and ask moderated questions. Source: about 3 years ago

C-suite was super reactive. Marketing did a usability test that basically made it seem like the minor adjustments they planned in the content would lead to a 100% conversion (it did in their tests but it was a poor test and they obviously didn't add the *based on 5 users on usertesting.com) and the head of content design was already butting heads with the head of marketing since the overlap. Usertesting.com. You don't make much but you can do it from home. I just leave the site open in the evenings while I'm watching TV and spend a few seconds taking screeners as they pop up. It takes a while to get a test, but they usually pay $10 for ~15 minutes when you do qualify. Source: over 3 years ago
I've done several so far, but perhaps need to be more on the ball with it. I've had more success with usertesting.com but that is the odd test here and there. Source: over 3 years ago
Roughly less than 5 dirhams per hour? Some slaves had better conditions than that... If you can't find something better go and register on usertesting.com for basic usability tests, sign up for mTurk and Toloka, and go find survey websites (Prolific, qmee, etc.) on r/beermoney and r/beermoneyglobal instead of working there. Normally these are just for making some pocket money on your extra time but if you spend... Source: over 3 years ago
I used usertesting.com a long while back and wasn't too impressed with the results. It was more akin to getting mini-critiques of a design. The panel members were clearly regulars and usually spent their time talking about what they thought other people would do, and gave advice on what was working, not working, and anything they would change. That was useful in its own way, but a disappointment as far as being... Source: over 3 years ago

UserTesting.com has garnered mixed reviews that reflect a broad spectrum of user experiences and opinions. As an industry leader in usability testing and user experience research, UserTesting.com provides businesses with insights into how real users interact with their products, primarily through video feedback. Its reputation is characterized by its large respondent pool, which enables rapid feedback collection โ a factor that competitors like Hotjar, TestRail, and User Interviews often highlight.
Positive feedback frequently centers on its intuitive platform and comprehensive feedback mechanisms, particularly its focus on video feedback, which UX teams find invaluable for gaining user insights. Many users appreciate the significant benefit of being able to observe real customer interactionsโoften described as a vital tool for improving customer experience and product development processes. However, this praise is somewhat tempered by the absence of visual data representations, a challenge noted in a few critical reviews.
Despite its strengths, UserTesting.com is not without its drawbacks. Users commonly cite pricing as a significant barrier, especially for small businesses and startups. The service's pricing is viewed as premium, with a purchasing process that some find cumbersome due to its reliance on sales calls and demos. This issue is significant enough to prompt discussions of alternative, more affordable solutions.
The platform's expansive participant pool, while advantageous, has been critiqued for varying quality and engagement levels. Concerns about unqualified or disinterested respondents have been expressed, attributing to a dilution of the research quality and the overall testing process.
UserTesting.com's technical functionality has also come under scrutiny, with several users experiencing issues with the iOS app and expressing dissatisfaction with the service's technical support. In addition, criticisms point out that experienced testers often behave as if they are critiquers rather than subjects, which can misalign with desired testing outcomes.
The platform's utility in comparison to its competitors remains under active discussion. While some users feel that UserTesting.com offers superior capabilities in areas like video feedback and participant diversity, others prefer alternatives that better suit their specific needs, such as cost efficiency or data visualization capabilities. Notably, UserTesting.com is frequently juxtaposed with other industry solutions like Hotjar and UserZoom, reflecting its prominent position in the competitive landscape of usability testing.
For individuals seeking supplementary income, UserTesting.com has shown potential for earning additional revenue, albeit modest. The platform's usability tests are generally seen as a means to earn extra money with reports of earning $10 for about 15 minutes of testing work.
Overall, UserTesting.com remains a formidable player in the usability and user experience research industry, offering deep insights into customer experiences. However, its challenges in pricing accessibility and participant quality underscore areas where it may need to refine its approach to maintain competitiveness and user satisfaction.
