Ideally, I'd love to find a way to point a user through steps of the model programmatically without getting on a call. I'm thinking something similar to https://userflow.com/, but implemented in excel. I.e. When you start using a new SaaS product, you have popups that take you through a tutorial/workflow to give you an idea of what all the buttons/interfaces do. Source: almost 4 years ago
It is also common to use third-party solutioins for this type of things. On our project we use UserFlow so that business team can setup and change onboarding process without any dev involvement. It's not an ad though, I'm not a huge fan of it ๐ . Source: over 4 years ago

Public Opinion on Userflow
Userflow, a prominent player in the realm of user onboarding and engagement, positions itself as an effective solution for digital adoption through features like pop-ups, hotspots, checklists, and interactive guides. This platform has garnered favorable attention among professionals seeking to streamline user experiences without the burden of extensive coding. In the competitive landscape alongside Userpilot, Appcues, and others, Userflow is often acknowledged for its easy integration process, requiring only the installation of a JavaScript snippet, thereafter alleviating the need for further coding.
Userflow's effectiveness is highlighted in various discussions, where it stands out as a reliable tool for startups and established businesses alike. These conversations often underscore its ability to facilitate quick product tours and tutorials, crucial for enhancing user engagement. Several users have shared positive experiences, particularly valuing Userflow's affordability and the flexibility it offers to bootstrap ventures. For instance, its "Bootstrappers Plan" at $100 per month is perceived as a cost-effective investment for budding companies aiming to refine their onboarding processes.
However, while the general sentiment leans positive, feedback is not without critique. Some users note limitations in customizing and express a desire for more advanced features that some competitors may offer. Additionally, there are mentions of Userflow lacking certain integrations, which could be a limiting factor for projects requiring more complex onboarding needs.
A unique aspect that fuels Userflow's credibility is its ability to operate with minimal human resources. The company reportedly generates multimillion-dollar revenues with just three employees. This efficiency speaks volumes about the effectiveness of its streamlined services and automation capabilities.
Despite some nuances in user preferences, the consensus reveals satisfaction with Userflow's capability to empower non-developers to independently manage onboarding flows. This feature is particularly beneficial for digital agencies and teams that aim to reduce reliance on developers for onboarding tasks. Userflow provides business teams the liberty to adjust customer journeys with minimal technical intervention, thereby enhancing responsiveness and adaptability to user feedback.
In comparison to its competitors, Userflow's trajectory toward simplicity and user autonomy resonates well with its target demographic. Many users find the platform's functional parity with established players like UserGuiding and praise its commitment to user-friendly processes. Nonetheless, potential adopters must weigh their specific needs and potential constraints of Userflow's offerings against its user-centric advantages.
Overall, Userflow maintains a strong foothold in the industry, with its ease of use, affordability, and ability to generate substantial revenue with limited personnel distinguishing it in the crowded arena of user onboarding software. This positions Userflow as a compelling choice for companies looking to augment user engagement and optimize the onboarding experience with minimal overhead.
