  • Show HN: I made a game to improve my typing speed
It's gotta be fun, and Typing for the Dead is a good one. https://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/246580/ More recently though, there's https://monkeytype.com/ and https://play.typeracer.com/ which are fun little breaks during the day. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • A temp no more
I did kind of giggle when The Doctor said "There's no-one in London faster on a keyboard", because while 100wpm is fast, it's not record-breaking xD I do 111, and the top 20 on TypeRacer leave me in the dust. Source: 5 months ago
  • really struggling with picking up touch typing and feeling horrible about it.
Do you remember all the letters on the keyboard? If not, do more learning on websites like typing.com. If yes, practice on sites like typeracer. Make sure you're getting 97% accuracy. Source: 5 months ago
  • What's the most underrated skill that everyone should learn?
Also a 'fun' (relatively speaking) touch typing driving game against real world players to test your skills: https://play.typeracer.com/. Source: 5 months ago
  • CASPer Guide
Sure this is all nice but the best way to improve your casper score is to use this website daily for as much time as you can. Guaranteed higher scores if you can get your #’s up! Source: 10 months ago
  • Learning touch typing on Mac
Https://play.typeracer.com/ this is great as well if you want to turn it into a little competitive game. Source: 10 months ago
  • iwtl fast typing
Type Racer: A multiplayer typing test website where you race others to see who can type a paragraph faster. Rrally useful for practicing actual, real-world sentences and words, as you will be typing a variety of them there. Source: 10 months ago
  • Casper
This is probably the best bang for your buck its how I got fourth quartile. Source: 11 months ago
  • A highly detailed guide to increasing your typing speed.
To make practicing more fun, you could use play.typeracer.com, it adds racing cars to typing. Source: 11 months ago
  • Is stop on error (letter) cheating?
I believe that the much better option is stop on word which makes Monkeytype behave like Typeracer or Keymash in that you have to use Backspace or Ctrl+Backspace to correct your mistakes before progressing to the next word. Funnily enough, that's also how stuff works in the real world outside of typing websites. Source: 11 months ago
  • What websites are best for getting better at typing?
There are sites that will let you "race" directly against one or more other people whilst typing quotes or random words like play.typeracer.com nitrotype.com or keymash.io. Source: 11 months ago
  • Does anyone have any resources for how to be a better typer?
When you’re bored, you can always go on monkeytype or typeracer to test your speed. Source: 12 months ago
  • Does anyone have any resources for how to be a better typer?
What I did was look up the touch typing hand layout (googling it is pretty easy), then just force myself to use it. I started off going from 37wpm to 7wpm, but through a lot of use (especially doing daily type tests on websites like https://play.typeracer.com/ or https://10fastfingers.com/ ) I'm now at ~65wpm without looking after a couple months. • THIS IS HOW I AVERAGE 200+ WPM ON MONKEYTYPE (10 WORDS)
Typeracer and Keymash are both competitive typing sites. Sites where you race people head-to-head in real time whilst typing identical content. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Struggling with getting better overall accuracy and consistency
If you're using the Qwerty layout (as most people are) then you will use the exact same muscle memory to type the understand on monkeytype.com as you would on play.typeracer.com as you would on problemwords.com or typelit.io. Source: about 1 year ago
  • What is the thing that considered as a bad typing habit?
There are plenty of other typing websites like problemwords.com and play.typeracer.com where you can't ignore your mistakes. That's great. This in my opinion is Monkeytype's biggest problem. Source: about 1 year ago
  • is 20 wpm ok for someone who has been practicing for a week?
Where are you practicing mostly right now? If you are using monkeytype, then I recommend using English 1K wordlist till you get to like 40-50WPM on that. After that you can try play.typeracer.com for some quotes experience and fun. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Learn Vim (2021)
You don't need to hit 200 wpm but I haven't seen too many programmers who hunt-and-pecks at the keyboard and can't touch type. The two sites I like for practice are: https://monkeytype.com/ https://play.typeracer.com/. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • How does everyone know how to type on a keyboard with both hands?
I learned through websites, like this one or this one. You can also practice your skills here or here. Source: about 1 year ago
  • A nice way to learn typing
Https://play.typeracer.com/ Here you go. Thank you pointing out the mistake. Source: over 1 year ago
  • 11 year old brother types 78wpm with 2 fingers!
If he wants to learn how to touch type with all ten fingers, I would recommend a website like typingclub.com. If he wants to continue to practice, I would recommend play.typeracer.com and monkeytype.com. Source: over 1 year ago
