  I believe that the much better option is stop on word which makes Monkeytype behave like Typeracer or Keymash in that you have to use Backspace or Ctrl+Backspace to correct your mistakes before progressing to the next word.   What I did was look up the touch typing hand layout (googling it is pretty easy), then just force myself to use it. I started off going from 37wpm to 7wpm, but through a lot of use (especially doing daily type tests on websites like https://play.typeracer.com/ or https://10fastfingers.com/ ) I'm now at ~65wpm without looking after a couple months.   Where are you practicing mostly right now? If you are using monkeytype, then I recommend using English 1K wordlist till you get to like 40-50WPM on that. After that you can try play.typeracer.com for some quotes experience and fun. Source: about 1 year ago
