Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Trendlytic.
  1. What makes Trendlytic unique?

Most research tools hand you keyword volumes and leave the judgement to you. Trendlytic starts from what is actually selling. One search reads TeePublic, Amazon Merch, Redbubble and Etsy together, then shows which designs are moving right now, which niches have buyers behind them, and how many sellers already stand between you and those buyers.

Two things follow from that. Designs climbing on their shelf get a rising badge, so a growing niche is visible rather than guessed at. And any phrase can be sent to the live USPTO register in one click, on every plan, so you see what is registered against it before you invest hours in artwork. That lookup is a first filter rather than legal advice.

  2. Why should a person choose Trendlytic over its competitors?

Mainly scope. Most tools in this space are built around one marketplace: eRank and Marmalead are Etsy focused, Merch Informer is built for Amazon Merch. They are good at what they cover. But print-on-demand sellers rarely sell on one platform, and checking four marketplaces by hand is an evening per idea.

Trendlytic covers all four in a single search and adds the trademark lookup, which is the step most sellers skip until an account gets suspended.

An honest limit: we are small and newer than Merch Informer, and we deliberately do not publish keyword search volumes. At this market size, what is selling tells you more than what is searched.

  3. How would you describe the primary audience of Trendlytic?

Print-on-demand sellers who are past the experiment stage. Someone who has listed designs, made a few sales, and realised the bottleneck is not design speed but picking the right niche.

Concretely: Redbubble and TeePublic sellers, Amazon Merch sellers working through tier limits, and Etsy shop owners adding print-on-demand products. Mostly solo sellers and small studios rather than agencies.

The common thread is time. They can design. What they cannot do is spend four hours a week manually comparing marketplaces before deciding what to make next.

  4. What's the story behind Trendlytic?

I sell print on demand myself, and the research was the part I kept avoiding. Opening four marketplaces, working through what was selling, then checking a phrase against the trademark register took most of an evening, and I usually skipped it and designed on instinct instead. That went about as well as you would expect.

So I built the thing I wanted: one search across the four marketplaces, an honest read on whether a niche has buyers or is simply crowded, and the trademark step built in rather than left as homework.

I run it alone from Morocco. It has been live since 2026 and it grows by getting used.

  5. Which are the primary technologies used for building Trendlytic?

    • Next.js and React with TypeScript on the front end, styled with Tailwind
    • Supabase for Postgres, authentication and row-level security
    • Python workers running Playwright for the marketplace scraping, on Railway
    • Vercel for hosting the web app
    • Lemon Squeezy for billing, Resend for email, PostHog for analytics
