That is a MAJOR drawback. Maybe it will come with time. But the domain is threads.net. threads.com belongs to a completely different app. That is going to be a head-scratcher for sure. Source: 10 months ago
If there is anyone to feel bad for in this situation it's the folks that own threads.com and have been working on their Slack / Discord alternative whatever. Source: 10 months ago
There is an app called Threads, described as a 'slack repacement designed for makers', which owns https://threads.com . They have had to put a big badge saying 'We are not associated with Instagram' on their home page, but.. I bet they're getting a lot of unexpected new business this week. Source: 10 months ago
So where is the webclient? Apparantly not on threads.com, which would make sense. Source: 10 months ago
It's called Threads, but is buried in search results now. It was on before Metas was, has about a million downloads on the Google app store. Https://threads.com/. Source: 10 months ago
Also, how about https://threads.com. Source: 10 months ago
I'm assuming you're not talking about this. Source: 10 months ago
We all know Twitter has serious issues. I don't expect it to survive. I don't think Threads is the answer (at least not yet). There are privacy concerns. There is no usable web site (and the domain threads.com belongs to a completely different chat application). It is tied into Meta's other platforms. Source: 10 months ago
There's not even a web version, they picked a very common name that already has a similar product using it, with the threads.com domain. And it's own app called Threads. I smell a lawsuit coming. Source: 10 months ago
Looks nice! No website means I won't use it though, I need my casual pop-ins from my computer. Unrelated: Poor bastards: https://threads.com/ Overnight eclipsed. I think they'll rebrand, like Clubhouse rebranded to Shortcut because of the Clubhouse voicechat app rise in popularity. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
Threads.com appears to belong to some kind of group collaboration software. Ironically, they have a link to their twitter handle on their page lol. But I bet it does cause confusion for some. Because it looks like a chat type app. That is definitely an unforeseen hurdle for the Meta thing. Source: 10 months ago
Interesting Sequoia Capital is the series A backer for threads.com and sequoia was one of the big winners in the sale of whatsApp to facebook/meta. Source: 10 months ago
TBH Instagram had a standalone chat app named Threads back in 2019 which they shut down in 2021. Which BTW existed before threads.com. Source: 10 months ago
Lawsuit incoming from https://threads.com/. Source: 10 months ago
I wonder if there will be any confusion issues with Threads.com which is some kind of team communication app (advertises itself as a Slack replacement for makers). https://threads.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
Name overlaps with https://threads.com/ ? - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
Not to mention this new Slack competitor: https://threads.com. If Instagram Threads takes off I fully expect this app will be forced to change its name by Meta. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
Anyone from the https://threads.com team around? This must be at least annoying. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
I’m pretty sure there is no way to generate a link that automatically adds someone to your close friends on Instagram, I searched for some apps that fit what you’re asking but came to a dead end, the closest thing you’d get to what you’re after is threads and that technically doesn’t even have what you want.
