  • This sub is misrepresenting “Anti-AI” artists
A bunch of the image models on https://thisxdoesnotexist.com/ are StyleGAN2 or 3, and I'm fairly certain the majority of them were trained on permissive licensed images. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Show HN: This Hacker News Does Not Exist
Hi Hackernews! This is a little project I made in my free time. It's a fun and whimsical parody of Hacker News. I wanted to experiment with Faker.js and other JS libraries. It randomly generates Hackernews headlines. You get new results each time you refresh the page. I spent about 4 days making this, and learned a lot in the process, and it was my first open source side project in a long time. It was inspired by... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • How some artist think Stable Diffusion looks like
Pattern recognition wasn't theft when we used it for computer vision in the early 2000s, and it's not theft now. Just a few years ago, people were reveling over ESRGAN, styleGAN, pix2pix, cycleGAN, GauGAN, and a bunch of other algorithms which also used web scraped datasets. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Since Asmon seemed interested, Nvidia has an AI face generator. You just need to refresh the website to get a different picture of a person that does not exist (link in the comments).
There's also another series of sites with AIs that specializes in creating other things, like artworks, cats, memes, and yes, even waifus: https://thisxdoesnotexist.com/. Source: over 1 year ago

  • As a layman, dalle-2 is the most impressive AI application I've seen. Why is it not making any news? Why is GPT-3 more popular?
Some fan communities have already been hard at work for years trying to utilise AI to create more fan content. I'm sure they're all shaking with anticipation at the thought of gaining access to Dall-e 2. I remember the various thisxdoesnotexist.com sites making quite a splash when they appeared. • Hey guys! Where to get some good stuff for album art?
You're seeing art generated by a GAN (General Adversarial Network), a form of neural network. I went for a little digging, and according to thisxdoesnotexist.com, this specific website is made by someone named Michael Friesen. But I haven't been able to find anything on Michael himself. http://www.michaelfriesen.com/ doesn't seem to work. So I couldn't find anything regarding copyright - but since it is computer... • What are best careers/jobs in order to AI not takeover your job?

  • The difficulties of transcribing tone. Or, what's the goal of transcribing IPA with Machine Learning?
I'm a software engineer by profession and occasionally have reason to play with so-called Machine Learning (ML). I think the best show case of what's possible nowadays is the This X Does Not Exist fashion for generating permutations of arbitrary categories of say, human faces or even English words. Imagine a word that seemingly possesses all the natural characteristics of a word, but is not a word that actually... Source: about 2 years ago
