Seconding Universal Standard and adding the following: MMLeFleur; Lord & Taylor; Quince; Ralph Lauren (plus line); and if you're into resale, check out therealreal.com and filter by size. They have some really nice pieces and it also gives you more ideas for other labels you might not know of! Then go to Ebay and try to find them for cheaper. Source: over 2 years ago
Some reputable consignment/resell sites would be Tradesy.com or therealreal.com. Source: almost 3 years ago
If your clothing is extremely high end, The RealReal. Source: about 3 years ago
Unfortunately it becomes a waiting game to see if someone has one in your size in good condition to list on Ebay. Authenticity should always be a concern since there's thousands of fakes listed there. You can look on therealreal.com as well. They will be a much more reliable source since they authenticate all consignments before being listed. Source: over 3 years ago
Not sure if this is the right place to post this question but I am very into buying second-hand clothing from this website therealreal.com. With each product (like pants for example), you can click and see the specs (inseam, waist size, etc). What I would like more than ANYTHING is to be able to filter all the pants and only look at the ones with my exact measurements, because im a tall gal and it's hard to find... There are so many now. I buy and consign with therealreal.com pretty often. Source: almost 4 years ago
I made the mistake of buying new stuff at first and too early. I did 50% off a goodwill until I knew I was about done and now clothes are my vice! I used to HAVE to shop at DXL (Fat Tax King) or Penny's with terrible choices. Now I buy really good stuff and one of the best parts of this is knowing I can walk into any clothes store and they have stuff. I just discovered therealreal.com and it is dangerous. I've had the same issue working in a pretty traditional corporate environment. What has worked for me is shopping secondhand sites like TheRealReal for suiting and workwear basics like silk blouses, wool blazers and cotton shift dresses. The brands on TheRealReal may not be sustainable but buying secondhand isn't contributing to the fast fashion cycle. Source: almost 4 years ago
My wife is 35 and gets a lot of stuff from therealreal.com Online consignment of mid, high, and luxury, (both brand and quality) clothing and accessories at super big discounts. And you can try it on and send it back if it doesn't fit. The prices can get really high on some of the luxury brands, but the discounts can be really good. Source: over 4 years ago
The RealReal has carved a niche for itself within the luxury resale market by offering a curated platform for buying and selling high-end fashion and accessories. As part of a competitive landscape that includes Poshmark, Vestiaire Collective, and others, The RealReal distinguishes itself through a blend of convenience, authentication guarantees, and a robust consignment process.
Convenience and Ease of Use: The RealReal is praised for its hassle-free consignment process. Customers can schedule a pickup for their items or use prepaid shipping labels, making it easy for sellers to list their luxury items. They employ experts to evaluate, photograph, and price items, thus removing much of the burden from the seller.
Authentication Assurance: One of the standout features of The RealReal is its promise of authenticity. Unlike platforms such as eBay, where fakes can be a concern, The RealReal’s rigorous authentication process offers buyers confidence in their purchases.
Competitive Pricing: Users often highlight the substantial discounts available on high-end brands, making luxury more accessible. For consumers, this offers significant savings over retail prices, sometimes exceeding 70% off.
Product Selection and Diversity: The platform's diverse catalog, spanning men's, women's, and children's fashion as well as luxury accessories and fine art, is seen as a major advantage. The ability to filter by size and other criteria is appreciated, though consumers have voiced a desire for more customizable search functionalities.
International Shipping Limitations: A notable downside is The RealReal's limited shipping capabilities, with some users expressing frustration over the inability to ship to certain countries. This restricts the platform’s reach in the global market.
Price Perception: While the discounts are appreciated, some users suggest that prices can still be high, which may not align with all budgets despite being below retail.
Technical Constraints: Technical issues, such as restrictions in search capability and site usability, have been reported. Some users desire expanded options for filtering products by specific measurements or other personalized criteria.
Market Dynamics: As highlighted in related articles, The RealReal, alongside competitors like ThredUp, benefits indirectly from the growing awareness and participation in the resale market driven by platforms such as Poshmark. However, maintaining differentiation in service and value proposition remains crucial.
In summary, The RealReal enjoys a positive reputation for its streamlined selling and buying processes, secure transactions owing to its authentication measures, and the luxury bargains it offers. However, there is room for enhancement in terms of international market access and platform features. As consumer interest in sustainable and second-hand shopping continues to grow, The RealReal's ability to adapt and innovate in response to user feedback will be pivotal for its sustained success.
