Been using textures.com for a very long time, they are awesome, so all the best to them! Source: over 2 years ago
Everybody needs to take a deep breath because something reeks about the Jonas debunk. He may have been manipulated to find altered photos integrated into his legitimate data set. Check out this post today by Textures.com from a post today on X. Also... Another post by Ken S (@KStaubin) today calls into question the legitimacy of the data set. Source: over 2 years ago
Above, you say it's shady that Jonas is business partners with the texture.com owner, when he literally took photos of those clouds for textures.com, which makes him a business partner. That's why the photos came to exist in the first place. Source: over 2 years ago
Video being real, clouds planted by the CIA later except for the 2 or 3 found on archive.org (or maybe they hacked into archive.org), person working for textures.com on twitter is a plant, stock footage altered after the fact to look vaguely like the video. Jonas is a plant. Ashton Forbes is a plant to make the believers look like idiots. Source: over 2 years ago
We can also confirm the photo was on the website as soon as it was re-launched as textures.com in 2016. All of the other images on the website appeared at that time, it was not that single image being uploaded. Source: over 2 years ago
The original photographer, who is also the owner of textures.com, declined the money in this twitter post. Source: over 2 years ago
The website doesn't look like it changed into the new textures design until Aug 5, 2016. I'm unsure what was going on 2012-2016 on textures.com even though it appears Marcel owned it those years. Source: over 2 years ago
Shared first hand info that the photos were received, processed and available on the site in 2012. Source: over 2 years ago
Textures.com shared that they found the original files on their NAS from when they were recieved and processed in 2012. Source: over 2 years ago
Eventually decided to look at textures.com since it was a site I used a lot for textures around 10 years ago. Made a search for clouds and got about 400 results, most of them was easy to dismiss since the angle, cloud pattern was to different. Eventually I did find the ones that look somewhat similar in angle, pattern and color. So I looked closer to them and then I did find one cloud pattern that was very close... Source: over 2 years ago
Through independent analysis of exif date. Is there a forensically reliable method of establishing whether exif data has been manipulated? What are the supposed discrepancies that have so far been discovered in the exif data, and are there reasonable and likely explanations for those discrepancies (ie. Database changes, archiving etc)? Do other images on textures.com, of that vintage, exhibit similar "discrepancies"? Source: over 2 years ago
The reference to 'Textures' in this case is that of the typesetting tool-kit also known as MacTex. The only relation to Textures.com today is that the web address may have been released by that company when the CEO / President / Owner, Barry, passed away in 2012. Source: over 2 years ago
Cgtextures.com changed their name to textures.com sometime in 2014. Source: over 2 years ago
Sure! cgtextures.com became textures.com around Feb 4, 2012. The file was uploaded to textures.com 2012-05-25. The IP changes from Oregon to Netherlands, where cgtextures was registered. Source: over 2 years ago
This tells me it has nothing to do with cgtextures.com or textures.com as it does not seem to be related to texturing for game development, rendering or vfx, that is what the site is used for by 3d artists(same as I used for), vfx artists and game developers. Source: over 2 years ago
The file we're talking about was uploaded to what textures.com. Source: over 2 years ago
How is textures.com showing bluesky, both in Portland. textures.com used to be cgtextures, also in Portland. Source: over 2 years ago
Ashton is a nobody who latched onto this hoax as if his family's life depended on it, gained a bunch of twitter followers selling the hoax, and as recently as yesterday morning - was blocking people on twitter who were asking him about these discoveries on textures.com proving his hoax isn't real. So they were working on an app version, that makes the domain different? Which domain are we talking about because textures.com went down 2012-2019, and I badly want to believe what you're saying, but its the same domain. Source: over 2 years ago
Did they use textures.com or is that another domain? I'm confused. Bluesky and textures.com are the same site, right? Both sites are from Portland Oregon. But they are different sites? Source: over 2 years ago
It wasn't made from scratch. It was poorly cobbled together with a variety of assets. We can now see that some of the clouds came from textures.com, and the portal came from the old game. I'm sure if people keep digging we'll find other locations that other assets were sourced from. Also, this would be even less difficult if a small team worked on it rather than a single individual. This is totally within the... Source: over 2 years ago
