TextCompare.me brings IDE-grade diff quality to the browser. Its comparison engine is ported from IntelliJ IDEA's diff implementation (Myers LCS with smart change correction), refined with word-level highlighting — the same quality developers trust in their IDE, now available online for free. Everything runs locally in your browser: your text never leaves your device unless you explicitly create a share link. It's also fully bilingual (English/Chinese) and works great on mobile.
Developers comparing code snippets, configs, and logs; writers and editors tracking revisions between drafts; QA engineers, translators, students, and anyone who needs to spot exactly what changed between two versions of a text — without installing anything.
TextCompare.me started from a simple frustration: existing online diff tools either upload your text to a server, hide features behind sign-ups, or produce diffs that are technically "minimal" but hard to read. As a developer used to IntelliJ IDEA's excellent diff view, I wanted that same quality in a browser tab — private, instant, and free. So I ported IDEA's diff engine to TypeScript, refined it with word-level highlighting, and shipped it as a simple web tool. It has been continuously improved based on real usage, including careful mobile support.
Next.js (App Router) + React + TypeScript, styled with Tailwind CSS, deployed on Vercel. The core diff engine is a TypeScript port of IntelliJ IDEA's Myers LCS algorithm, combined with the jsdiff library for character/word-level refinement. All comparison runs client-side in the browser.
