1. Why should a person choose Tabla DB over its competitors?

   Every feature is here from the first minute, because there is no bigger plan. Formulas, lookups, rollups, two-way links, every view, webhooks with delivery logs and replay, conditional record colors, the full REST API, and the whole-database export — none of it waits behind a tier.

   Nothing bills by usage. Not webhook fires, not API calls beyond a published rate limit of 600 a minute, not how many records you keep. Viewers are free at any number; only editors are billed, and counting stops at 25. A team of five pays $288 a year.

   Opening a 50,000-row table takes 0.35 seconds. We timed it against the live sites of two competitors in July 2026 and published the method.

   One action pulls the whole database into a single file — every table as CSV, every record, every attachment, with a manifest. It works on the free plan, which is to say it works on the day you leave.

2. How would you describe the primary audience of Tabla DB?

   Teams running a real operation — bookings, clients, jobs, inventory, invoices, the things a business actually turns on. The spreadsheet worked, then it got slow, and nobody wants to become a database administrator to fix it.

   Around them, the person they ask before committing: the operator or developer who has to integrate it, automate it, and still defend the choice a year from now.

3. What's the story behind Tabla DB?

   We spent years building these systems for ourselves and for other people, on the tools that came before this one. Bookings for a guesthouse. Inventory. Client work. Dozens of them.

   Same ending every time. It worked. Then it got slow, or the bill grew because we'd kept more data, or something broke the afternoon someone renamed a column.

   So we built the thing we actually wanted.

   Tabla is made in Cairo.

4. Which are the primary technologies used for building Tabla DB?

   Next.js and TypeScript on the front, PostgreSQL 16 underneath. Every grid is a real Postgres table with real indexes — not rows in a generic key-value store, which is why sorting and filtering stay quick as the table fills up. Records run on Hetzner in Nuremberg; attachments on Cloudflare R2.

5. What makes Tabla DB unique?

   Four views. Every field type, including the ones that only matter on the day you need them. Formulas, rollups, two-way links. Group-by, footer summaries, row and cell coloring. One filter grammar — the same in the grid, the API and your webhooks, and written down. Public read-only links. Undo, and a trash that holds everything for seven days. Webhooks with a delivery log you can replay. And the whole database back out in one file.
