Features & Specs

  1. Answers Only From Your Own Material

Sublex Chat replies using your website, your documents and your price lists, and nothing else. It cannot improvise a price, an opening time or a policy, because it has no other source to draw on.

  2. Says So When It Does Not Know

When the answer is not in your material the assistant tells the customer plainly, rather than producing something that merely sounds right. It then offers to take their name and number, so the enquiry reaches you instead of being lost.

  3. Missed Questions, In The Customer's Own Words

Every question the assistant could not answer is collected on one screen, ordered by how often it came up. You answer it once and it stops being a gap, which quietly turns the chat window into a list of what your website is missing.

  4. Reads Your Website On Its Own

Give it a web address and it works through your pages, so prices, opening hours and policies spread across five pages become answerable in a single message. Nothing has to be typed in by hand and there is no conversation flow to draw.

  5. Four Ways To Teach It

Your website, PDF and Word documents, pasted text, and question and answer pairs. Most businesses point it at the website and add one document for a price list or a menu.

  6. Live In About Fifteen Minutes

One line of code goes into your site, and it works on WordPress, Wix, Shopify, Webflow and Squarespace with no plugin. If you can add Google Analytics to your site, you can add this, and it goes in the same place.

  7. Billed By Conversation, Never By Seat

A conversation is one visitor's whole sitting rather than one message, and it is only counted when the assistant actually answered something. Your whole team works the inbox on every paid plan, with no charge per person.

  8. The AI Is Not A Separate Subscription

Every plan includes the AI at no extra charge. There are no credits to run out of mid-sentence and no fee per answer, so a conversation costs the same whichever model answered it.

  9. Live Chat And Human Takeover

On the Business plan you can step into any conversation as yourself, and the assistant stays quiet until you hand it back. Rules decide what reaches a person automatically, so nobody has to watch a screen.

  10. Every Lead Captured

When the assistant cannot help, it takes a name and a number so the enquiry is waiting for you in the morning rather than lost at eleven at night. This works on every plan, including the free one.

  11. Answers In Your Customer's Language

The assistant replies in whatever language the customer writes in. The chat window itself can be set to English, French, Arabic or Spanish, with full right to left layout for Arabic.

  12. Keeps Itself Current

Paid plans re-read your website automatically, every thirty days on Starter and every seven days on Business. A price you change in March does not get quoted back to a customer in June.

  13. An Inbox Built For One Person

Search everything that was said, unread counts per person rather than per thread, snooze until a date, and saved replies that fill the box instead of sending. On Business you can also assign, note and resolve.

  14. Analytics That Answer A Question

See when your customers actually arrive and what they ask about, rather than a wall of charts nobody opens twice. Charts and history come with Starter, and the deeper reading of them with Business.

  15. Your Brand, Not Ours

Set the chat window to any brand colour from Starter upwards. Business adds your assistant's own name on the window, a custom launcher icon, your own wording, and removes the Sublex Chat badge entirely.

  16. A Free Plan That Renews

Twenty five conversations a month, one assistant and one website, permanently, with no card at any point. It is the same answering engine as the paid plans with a smaller meter on it.

  17. Fourteen Days Of The Full Business Plan

Every new account starts on Business free for fourteen days, with no card required. Nothing you built is deleted when it ends, you simply choose a paid plan or move down to Free.

  18. Handover Rules And Office Hours

Decide what sends a conversation to a person, and what should happen outside your working hours. The assistant behaves differently at three in the afternoon and at eleven at night.

  19. Pre-Chat Form With A Visible Skip

Ask for a name and an email before the conversation starts, with a skip the visitor can actually see. Business adds phone and custom fields, and the option to require it before a first message.

  20. Built To Be Checked

Customer conversations are never used to train AI models. Phone numbers and email addresses can be masked in the transcripts your team sees, and everything held on a conversation can be exported or erased.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Sublex Chat.
  1. What makes Sublex Chat unique?

Sublex Chat answers only from material the business gave it: its website, its documents, its price list. It has no other source to draw on, so it cannot produce a confident sentence about a price, an opening time or a policy that nobody ever set.

When the answer is not in that material it says so plainly and offers to take the customer's name and number, so the enquiry reaches the business instead of being lost. That question then appears on one screen listing everything the assistant could not answer, in the customer's own words, ordered by how often it came up. Answer it once and it stops being a gap. Over a few weeks that screen becomes a list of what the website itself is missing.

Setting it up is a web address and one line of code. There is nothing to train, no conversation flow to draw and no scripts to write.

  2. Why should a person choose Sublex Chat over its competitors?

Three things worth checking, against anything on the shortlist.

What happens when it does not know. Sublex Chat says so and takes the customer's details, rather than producing something that merely sounds right. For a clinic or a hotel quoting a price, a wrong answer costs more than no answer.

What the bill is actually made of. Billing is by conversation, meaning one visitor's whole sitting rather than one message, and it is only counted when the assistant answered something. The AI is included at no extra charge, so there are no credits to run out of mid-sentence and no fee per answer. The whole team works the inbox with no charge per person.

What it takes to get running. A web address, a document or two, and one line of code that goes where Google Analytics goes. About fifteen minutes, with no developer.

All of that is testable on the free plan, with no card at any point, which is a better comparison than any feature table.

  3. How would you describe the primary audience of Sublex Chat?

Small businesses that answer the same handful of questions all day and have nobody whose actual job it is to answer them. Hotels and guesthouses, clinics and dental practices, schools, restaurants, garages, shops, trades and agencies.

Typically one to twenty people, with a website that already holds the answers spread across five pages, and enquiries arriving after closing time that get read the following morning.

It is built for a business without a support department, not for a contact centre. There are two ways it is sold: self-serve subscriptions internationally, and an installed, managed service locally in The Gambia, where the team is based.

  4. What's the story behind Sublex Chat?

Sublex Chat was built by Sublex Digital, a web design agency in The Gambia.

The agency kept meeting the same thing in its clients. A perfectly good website that answered the question on page four, and a customer who asked it anyway at eleven at night and got nobody. The answer existed. The customer simply never found it, and by morning they had gone somewhere else.

The obvious fix was a chatbot, and the obvious fix solved half the problem. It replied at eleven at night, and some of what it replied was invented. For a clinic quoting a price or a hotel quoting availability, an invented answer costs more than silence does.

So the constraint came first and the product was built around it. An assistant that can only answer from what the business actually gave it. One that says so when the answer is not there. One that hands back every question it could not answer, so the business can fix its own material instead of guessing at what people are asking.

  5. Which are the primary technologies used for building Sublex Chat?

Next.js and TypeScript, with Tailwind on the dashboard.

Postgres with pgvector for storage and retrieval, through Supabase. Separation between businesses is enforced by row level security in the database itself rather than by application code, so a query cannot reach another organisation's rows even if the code above it is wrong.

The chat widget is vanilla TypeScript in a Shadow DOM, built with esbuild. It carries no framework onto the customer's website and cannot collide with their styles, and the loader is under 5KB.

Model access goes through one internal module, so the answering model can change without the product changing.

    Hosted on Vercel.
