Play a bit against the Chess Engine https://stockfishchess.org/ if you want to get an idea about what an elite chess player can do. Source: 10 months ago
So if you want to play against Stockfish, play against it. And in fact I would recommend not playing it on chess.com or Lichess with their artificial crippling levels. Download Stockfish, put it on a GUI and play it full strength and have fun getting utterly demolished. Source: about 1 year ago
For us mortals I suggest SCIDvsPC https://scidvspc.sourceforge.net/ and CaissaBase http://caissabase.co.uk/ (4.8million games) then add Stockfish https://stockfishchess.org/ for analysis. Source: about 1 year ago
Just to analyze positions in general, you can use the analysis boards on websites, and I'd recommend also having an offline chess GUI running Stockfish. You can sometimes go deeper and fiddle with more things. My recommendations are Scid vs. PC or PyChess. You would need to download Stockfish too, as the built-in ones are a bit oudated. Hey, thanks for the mention! Unfortunately I am writing the code for my board, but from all the comments I've received, it seems like Stockfish may be a helpful resource. Source: about 1 year ago

The best engine as of today is Stockfish 15.1 which would comfortably beat AlphaZero which played in those matches. Source: over 1 year ago
I'd recommend a chess engine like Stockfish (which you can download for free from http://stockfishchess.org/). Source: over 1 year ago

How can we know that there’s exactly one good move? We can use the open source chess engine Stockfish. Our python-chess library actually has support for communicating with an engine like Stockfish. That means that getting a detailed analysis of a position is as simple as:. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
I looked through those and unfortunately none of the main comments I saw were about Stockfish which is a well-known, open-source chess engine. It is very commonly used by online chess commenters. Source: over 1 year ago
No wonder why no human can't beat it and also most of the traditional chess engines like: Stockfish, Leela. Source: over 1 year ago
Sounds like you are familiar with cheating in FPS games. However chess being a different kind of game means nobody pays anyone to make an engine, because the [strongest](https://stockfishchess.org/) [engines](https://lczero.org/) are completely free and open source. Source: over 1 year ago
And that's it, apart from developing your groundbreaking RBC algorithm, of course! Consider modifying the TroutBot code (which requires StockFish) as a first step. Source: almost 2 years ago
I taught my son right around his 4th birthday. We played a little and he was just like your son - really just moving pieces because he can, not because it's a good idea. But he went and downloaded Stockfish 15 (https://stockfishchess.org/), and played with it regularly. Fast forward 2 years and he comes and says "daddy can we play chess?" Sure. We start to play and he's playing with purpose - thinking about why... Source: almost 2 years ago

Well, creating a chess AI all by myself is a feat I wouldn't be able to accomplish -maybe yet-. So I used a pre-made engine called Stockfish, which I am pretty sure that you are familiar with. I then used a module named after the engine itself that integrates the engine with python and provides a very abstract model to work with. In short, no; I did not write a chess AI from scratch. I would love to do so in the... Source: about 2 years ago

Chess algorithms use clever heuristics and some brute force to find best moves and today, Stockfish is the world's best chess engine and outplays Magnus Carlson, the world's best chess player (and considered by many to be the best of all time). But intelligent? Not really, but it used to be viewed as an AI problem. Stockfish recently introduced a simple feedforward neural net, but it's accompanied by traditional... Source: about 2 years ago
