Stillkeep replaces traditional line-by-line text journals and unstructured camera rolls with a visual, chapter-based framework. Instead of filing entries into rigid folders, memories are grouped into thematic Eras (e.g., Summer Road Trip, Baby's First Year, Japan 2026) with customizable cover colors. Each entry is saved as a Moment that binds photographs, descriptive notes, mood vibes, and tags into a single cohesive story.
No Habit-Streak Guilt: Stillkeep deliberately eliminates daily streak counters and invasive notification spam, focusing on calm, intentional reflection rather than gamified writing quotas.
Local-First Privacy Architecture: All data is processed using native iOS/Apple infrastructure and synced via private iCloud (CloudKit). There are zero third-party analytics, third-party advertising SDKs, or cross-app tracking built into the app.
Passive Memory Resurfacing: The built-in Look Back feature automatically surfaces past entries from today, last week, last month, and previous years without locking memories deep inside archives.
Physical Artifact Export: Users can export entire Eras into formatted digital photobooks as PDFs or share individual entries as styled Photocards, making your memories shareable with your family and friends.
The primary audience consists of mindful, privacy-conscious iPhone users looking to preserve life experiences intentionally. This includes:
Parents & Families capturing developmental milestones (e.g., baby's growth).
Travelers & Adventurers compiling photo-and-text trip logs.
Memory Keepers & Scrapbookers seeking a clean, digital alternative to physical journals or cluttered camera rolls.
Goal Seekers & Manifestation Journalers recording visual milestones, personal growth, and reflective life shifts.
Stillkeep was created by software engineer John-Henry Roche. Frustrated by standard camera rolls leaving photos detached from context and traditional notes/journal apps relying on rigid folder structures, he built Stillkeep to bridge the gap. The goal was to create a calm, private space where images and words are kept together to naturally mirror how human memory works in distinct life chapters.
Client Platform: Native iOS (Swift / SwiftUI, requiring iOS 17.6+).
Storage & Synchronization: Apple CloudKit infrastructure for secure, cross-device iCloud synchronization.
Export Engines: PDF rendering engine for Era photobook compilation and card generation for image exports.
Lightweight Binary Architecture: Ultra-compact iOS binary footprint (~7.9 MB).
Stillkeep is an end-user, consumer privacy mobile application used directly by individual iPhone owners rather than enterprise or B2B corporate organizations.
