Pro tip: Run a speed test immediately before the event. Don't trust your "up to 100 Mbps" ISP claim. Use fast.com or speedtest.net to get real numbers. - Source: dev.to / 4 months ago
For starters, disconnect all wireless devices (or just your wireless router if itโs separate from your modem). Hardwire your modem to a computer and use Ookla Speedtest instead of Spectrumโs. Source: over 2 years ago
Websites like speedtest.net, fast.com and etc do provide measurement in megabits, and even with that, speedtest.net provides it between you and your ISP(mostly) only. So if you want to download something from lets say, YouTube, the speed will be slightly different because now you're connecting to Google's server, not your ISP's server. This is because speedtest.net has partnership with ISPs so that speedtest.net... Source: over 2 years ago
If fast.com and speedtest.net are fast, then it's not the computer or your internet. Source: over 2 years ago
Hi there. I definitely understand the frustration with slow download speeds. Are you able to run a speed test on speedtest.net to see what results you are getting on that computer? Are you having slow speeds on all devices or just this computer particularly? ^David. Source: over 2 years ago
What about the speedtest.net cli version in combination with a little script? Source: over 2 years ago
It also isn't helped that Ookla (the American company responsible for speedtest.net) uses the non-metric American convention for writing out speeds (Mbps). Source: over 2 years ago
Having an issue with my PC, built it about two years ago. This started about six months ago and has slowly gotten worse. My download speed has diminished by about 50%+. However when I use speedtest.net my download says currently 675 Mbps. At its peak this will hit around 780 Mbps. My father's computer downstairs who is also connected on the same router via ethernet will have speeds that hit our max around... Source: over 2 years ago
Check my internet connection (seems fine based on fast.com and speedtest.net). Source: over 2 years ago
I always felt it was just good enough to show you how fast you can stream Netflix. I was under the impression it was directly tied to them. I also never got decent results compared to just using speedtest.net, including now. Source: over 2 years ago
FWIW fast.com just gave me ~600Mbps, then 1.7Gbps on a second attempt. Wifiman 2131.43Mbps/2189.04Mbps, and speedtest.net with i3D.net server (Newark NJ) was 2194.01/2360.88. Source: over 2 years ago
Situation: Today there was probably an issue inside my LAN so I called the ISP service to see if there was yet again another serious issue. On speedtest.net I was getting 30-37 Mbps download speed. Call made, support person tells me "I connected to your Router and I can see you have these devices connected to it, your Wireless Network is called X. I also like your settings there" and I'm like "...". I plug in my... Source: over 2 years ago
I haven't really had any issues since that. It's working fine and speedtest.net and proof.ovh.net gives me 900+ up/down as advertised, although download 10Gb from their static download test wasn't quite as fast (between 700-800Mbps), but still good enough for me. Some websites seem to load slightly slower than my Virgin connection did (although I haven't measured) and and it does seem like the routing isn't... Source: over 2 years ago
The first thing you need to do is run a speedtest and get a gauge for your bandwidth. Can go to speedtest.net or download the ookla speedtest app on your phone. Gaming REALLY doesn't use that much bandwidth. It's more GPU and CPU heavy and not so much network heavy. So your girlfriend being on her phone shouldn't be lagging you unless you have mid single digit internet speeds. Source: over 2 years ago
Does it mean that when you ran speedtest.net via any browser - speed test will result in those numbers you provided? And you already tried different speed test servers while doing that test? Try ( if you have not tried yet) reset TCP stack with CMD command netsh int ip reset. Source: over 2 years ago
I found these on a random forum and figured I'd try them. Whenever I entered them all in and restarted my computer, my download speed jumped from 15mbps to over 400 (speedtest.net). However given about a half an hour and it slowly decreases back down to 15, so I don't know if there is some windows service or software that is limiting my download speeds. Any help would be appreciated. Source: over 2 years ago
- speedtest.net shows really good results. Source: over 2 years ago
Port/line is not stable. Maybe a port reset can help or your ISP needs to assign a new port for you on the dslam. Do also a wired speedtest on speedtest.net if you haven't done that already. Also a reset of your modem if not done already. Your ISP should help you with this. Maybe the profile assigned to your port is wrong. It needs ADSL+ profile. This looks like they assigned ADSL. Only 8mbits. Source: over 2 years ago
I'd do a couple quick tests on something like https://speedtest.net/ on each computer, then both at once, then try moving them around a bit (opposite sides of the router if you can) and try again, if your results (especially ping) change a lot it's probably wifi overloading issues, so I'd start with that. Thanks for answering. I tried speedtest.net app. Source: over 2 years ago
I don't use wifi or vpns it's wired ethernet and nothing else has any problems, speedtest.net shows there are no speed problems, and the 5 computers I have at home and several where I work all work fine except with your pages. Source: over 2 years ago
