  I've been using the free Source Code Pro (GitHub source). While it works well for coding of course, I find it is also pleasing to read from for large quantities of text. That gets me good unicode coverage, and my only real complaint is that \ (REVERSE SOLIDUS aka "backslash") and ∖ (SET MINUS) are virtually indistinguishable – but that's true of just about every font I've tried.
