Eye Strain Reduction
The Solarized Dark theme uses a carefully selected palette of colors that reduces eye strain, particularly in low-light environments. It achieves a balance between contrast and readability without the harshness of pure black backgrounds.
Consistent Contrast
The theme's design focuses on a consistent contrast level between text and background, which improves readability and makes it easier to distinguish between code elements.
Aesthetically Pleasing
The harmonious color scheme is not only practical but also visually appealing, making it a popular choice among developers who prefer a darker aesthetic.
Color Blindness Friendly
Solarized Dark is designed with colorblind users in mind, offering a palette that is accessible and usable for those with color vision deficiencies.
Solarized is easy on the eyes and the colours are chosen for readability. https://ethanschoonover.com/solarized/ The list on the site lacks some entries. Konsole has it built in and I bet Gnome Terminal too. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
We didn’t start from scratch. We used Solarized as the basis of the project. It didn’t meet AA criteria, but it did give us a good platform to build from. From there, we essentially adapted our brand colours to meet Base16 needs. - Source: dev.to / 11 months ago
Gruvbox its a retro groove Color scheme heavily inspired by badwolf, jellybeans and solarized. With this I want to give the community a customization theme a little different from what they are used to such as neon and those quirky themes that do not go with the retro theme of the PSP. I mean I'd use the Calendar plugin for this, but so far as colors go I really like the Solarized theme and it's color pallet - https://ethanschoonover.com/solarized/. Source: almost 2 years ago
Sorry to hear about the concussion Have you tried solarised themes https://ethanschoonover.com/solarized/ Not sure if this theme will cater to your specific needs, I hope so. - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
I've gone so far as to manually create myself themes using the SD color codes in various editors, IDEs, and term programs when one isn't available. Source: about 2 years ago

This was my first thought too. I wonder how close to solarized[1] that would come. [1]: https://ethanschoonover.com/solarized/#features. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
Are custom themes possible via the .NET SDK or something? A solarized theme implementation would be rad. Source: over 2 years ago
For the uninitiated, Solarized is a color scheme available in a lot of terminal/text editor applications for software development: https://ethanschoonover.com/solarized/. Source: over 2 years ago
At first, your color palette made a very good first impression to me. > I’m claiming it is an improvement in terms of usability, simply because Solarised wasn’t designed with these properties in mind. Are you sure about that? On [1] and [2] the creator of Solarized describes why he choose low contrast and specific hue differences, representable in CIELAB. That sounds rather similar to your first three points in... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
The modeline looks like a custom color, totally. Tried to match against https://ethanschoonover.com/solarized/ -- Overall the theme looks a bit like a slightly desaturared/lightened version of Solarized tbh. Source: almost 3 years ago
Yes the green in move by move validation. I also would love to see more color themes, such as solairzed https://ethanschoonover.com/solarized/ Thanks! Source: almost 3 years ago
Thanks! The main one is from Solarized, where the second is from Dracula. Both are just using two or three colors, though. Source: almost 3 years ago
I like to use the Solarized color theme in my code editor, as I find it gentler on the eyes from the less extreme contrast ratio. Duck Duck Go, if that also happens to be your search engine of choice, can also easily be setup to use the same colors as the Solarized theme. This way the things you look at the most have a contrast ratio that's less intense and more gentle. - Source: dev.to / about 3 years ago
Dark. Personally I like the dark version of Solarized, though Zenburn is also nice. Source: about 3 years ago

I wanted a color scheme for gedit that would fit with the Adwaita Dark theme and use the Solarized palette for syntax highlighting. I couldn't find one, so I made one. Feel free to use it at will. Any comments and suggestions are welcome. Source: over 3 years ago
Hey there, Love the philosophy behind the theme. How hard do you think it'd be to automate theme previewing & distribution? What would the challenges be? Why is this problem not solved yet? I'm no designer, but in my understanding a theme is a set of colors that's the result of a research on contrasts and aesthetics (I love how pedagogic Ethan is on its Solarized website: https://ethanschoonover.com/solarized ) By... - Source: Hacker News / over 3 years ago
