  • I got sick of all the golf finder websites with incomplete course lists and booking fees, so I learned a new coding language and built my own searchable database of 12,000 public courses. Would love r/golf's feedback!
It could also be cool to incorporate your own map styles based on Google Maps https://snazzymaps.com (warning, seems like a lot of ads since I’ve last used it…might want to contact their devs if you go this route). Source: over 3 years ago
  • I'm the Architect! I'm an experience designer who travels the world building wildly elaborate treasure/scavenger hunts. Let me teach you how! AMA!
It's interesting. You don't need a massive budget to make a fun Advdnture! You could buy a hollow book on amazon for $10 and then place it in a library with a $1.50 map you printed at Staples and made from snazzymaps.com and Canva.com and that makes for an AMAZING moment. • 🙏 Thank you so much to this sub! A list of our favorite ideas we used in the wedding, from/inspired by this group + photos
A cute map stumped me as well! I found a simplied map of the area from https://snazzymaps.com (overlaps on top of Google Maps), colored it from grayscale to purple in Photoshop, and overlaid icons from https://thenounproject.com/ on top. Source: over 3 years ago
  • how do you make digital maps?
Https://snazzymaps.com/ can be used for like city maps, you just gotta do some customizing. For some more fiddly results, but subjectively better, you could use something like QGis or other Gis applications. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Are there any tools to play around with Google Maps?
I want something to help my setting feel real for the players, and to help me get into the headspace of running the city. Online and shareable would especially be nice. Currently playing around with Snazzy Maps, but it's not quite what I want. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Can anyone tell me how NPS builds their maps? Particularly one like this for rivers.
I believe its free to download however to pull GIS data you do need subscriptions, but they do offer some basic GIS data free and what your looking for might already be considered public info. Also check out https://snazzymaps.com/. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Tools to make pen & paper rpg maps based on openstreetmap but allowing alterations?
I might have found my own solution, in case someone is wondering: This website has lots of map templates, and it lets you customize and download them. I'll use them as a basis and do the rest with GIMP. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Roman Succession Tree V 2.0 from Romulus to Nikolai II
Easier way is to use https://snazzymaps.com get a style which only is two coloured and then I basically stick together screenshots in the detail I want either in photoshop or Illustrator. The innitial map was actually so detailed and big that it was about 45K x 37K pixels and my pc crashed once I tried to make a vector out of it. Source: over 3 years ago
  • 3D Map from Google Maps
I'm trying to create a stylized look of a small place in my hometown. I'm doing this using a height map I made with snazzymaps.com. My idea was to use this to quickly create a lot of maps by only having to change the height map. The way I set it up is using displacement in the material output. The only thing is is that it's way too demanding on my hardware. Most of the times it won't even render. Source: almost 4 years ago
  • Thoughts on my Zone Map?
Photoshop magicks, mostly, but the source comes from https://snazzymaps.com/ - you set what you want google maps to show, and then you pick colors and styles. When I had a map style I liked, I then pulled it into photoshop, and did a bunch of stuff like "set it as hard light overtop a parchment texture" and "apply a folded, creased texture" etc. Source: almost 4 years ago
  • What’s a good website to make changed maps?
Try looking at https://snazzymaps.com/, you can customize map elements there and center wherever. Source: almost 4 years ago
  • How to make a map
I used https://snazzymaps.com/ to create this map for my MotW campaign. I picked some town in Massachusetts that looked roughly like I imagined the burgeoning Vermont town of New Bedlam would, and then removed all the labels and such and added my own. It's not flashy, but it worked well because Google Maps is how we basically find our way around in the real world, anyway, and the aesthetic made it feel like this... Source: about 4 years ago

Https://anvaka.github.io/city-roads/?q=Los%20Angeles&areaId=3600207359 will draw you a map of all the roads in a city, which can be very useful as a starting point, or to take a district or two and steal them. https://snazzymaps.com/ in the same vein. Source: over 4 years ago
  • Local map creator app or program? I’d like to create a map of the area around my accomodation to showcase walking tracks, lookouts, animal viewing platforms etc nearby. Does anyone know of a map creator I can use to create my own map for guests. (Australia)
You can build some great looking maps with snazzymaps.com. I've used it many times in the past for web development, not sure if it's still free. Source: over 4 years ago
  • I'm looking for a way to make maps that contain varying levels of detail (and overlay tracks/routes)
I can always use Google Maps (and snazzy maps) with screen recording and create 2.5D "fake" 3D map graphics, and those will get the point across, but I'm trying to find ways to integrate maps with higher production value. The screen recordings require me to manually manipulate the maps while the screen is being recorded, and it looks wonky and the maps don't always load super clean. Source: over 4 years ago
  • Map theme/color customization
The best way to customize the theme of your map is to create style on SnazzyMaps as they have a live preview editor that allows you to edit the colours of the components of the Google Map. Source: over 4 years ago
  • Storytellers, how do you make your maps?
I was just recently turned onto this by another redditor - and I friggin' love it!! Source: over 4 years ago
  • Alleged Maps of criminal control; it appears this is how 2022 is starting off in Zacatecas and Michoacán on several territories that the criminal entities have fought over in the last few years, for routes and turfs
Its not an easy or cheap method. For non-graphic designer beginners who just want one map for one story, I recommend using SnazzyMaps. Source: over 4 years ago
