Features & Specs

  1. Shopping list

Get shopping suggestions with quantities, scaled to the number of people and days on board. Every line is editable, and you can add whatever else your crew wants.

  2. Recipes

Built for a galley: few ingredients, simple preparation. Choose from 30 recipes (meat, fish, vegetarian, vegan). One tap sends the ingredients to your provisioning list.

  3. Route planning

Skipper and crew collect route ideas and points of interest on one map. Anyone can add or edit a route. Planning the week has never been this easy.

  4. Packing list

A personal list for every crew member. Tick items off, add your own, and find out what you actually need to bring โ€” and what you can leave at home.

  5. Boat handover

More detailed than any charter company's form. A precise checklist for the skipper at handover, so no damage is missed and there are no nasty surprises at the end of the week.

  6. Safety briefing

The skipper's checklist for getting the crew ready. Not just the safety points, but the questions that let the crew get to know each other.

  7. Boat kitty

Who owes whom? Foreign currencies handled too. Enter expenses as you go and settle up calmly at the end. By old custom, the skipper can be left out of the split.

  8. Logbook

No more dusty books and loose sheets of paper. The skipper adds an entry in a few taps, the crew can follow along, and everyone gets a map of the route sailed.

  9. Mileage record

The skipper signs off the miles in a few taps, the crew downloads them as a PDF. Exactly what you need when the miles count towards your next certificate.

  10. Games

A small collection of games for the cockpit. Ideal for breaking the ice and turning a group of strangers into a crew.

  11. Weather

Weather built for sailors. Pick your position and follow wind direction, wind speed, rain and wave height at a glance.

  12. Crew list

Invite the crew once with a shared link and keep track of who's on board. Give every crew member their own job for the week.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Skipper Connect.
  1. What makes Skipper Connect unique?

Most sailing trips are organised across a chaos of tools: a spreadsheet for costs, a PDF packing list, a chat group for the route, a separate weather app, and a paper logbook. Skipper Connect replaces all of that with one app for the whole crew.

It covers twelve modules in a single place:

    • Crew list, boat handover, safety briefing
    • Cash log, packing list, shopping list, recipes
    • Weather, route planning, logbook, sea miles
    • Off Watch games for the evenings

    Two things set it apart:

    • Built by a sailor, not adapted from a generic travel tool. Every module follows how a charter week actually runs, from picking up the boat to logging sea miles at the end.
    • Privacy by design. Hosting, database and transactional email all run inside the EU, fonts are self-hosted, and there is no tracking of the crew. Sensitive crew data is treated as its own protected topic.

No installation needed. It runs in the browser as a web app and can be added to the home screen on any phone.

  2. Why should a person choose Skipper Connect over its competitors?

    • One app instead of five. The alternative is not a competing product, it is a spreadsheet plus a chat group plus three separate apps. Skipper Connect removes the switching.
    • The modules talk to each other. Crew size and trip length feed the shopping list, the route feeds the logbook, the logbook feeds the sea miles record.
    • Fair pricing without a forced subscription. Seven modules are free forever. A single trip can be unlocked for a one-off payment, or a season pass covers a full year of sailing.
    • Made for European charter sailing. Fully GDPR compliant, EU hosting, no data sold, no advertising.
    • Works for charter companies too. A white-label version lets operators hand the app to their guests under their own brand, with their own checklists and modules.
  3. How would you describe the primary audience of Skipper Connect?

    Two groups, one trip.

Skippers organising a charter week with a crew that often does not know each other. They carry the responsibility for boat, safety, provisioning and money, and they are the ones currently doing this in spreadsheets at midnight before departure.

Crew members who want to know what to pack, what the week costs, where the boat is going and who else is on board. They get access to the same trip without needing any sailing knowledge.

Beyond private crews, charter companies and sailing tour operators use the white-label version to give their guests a prepared trip, with their own boat handover checklists and branding.

Typical setting: a one or two week charter in the Mediterranean, Croatia, Greece, the Balearics or the Baltic, with four to ten people on board.

  4. What's the story behind Skipper Connect?

It started with the same evening repeating itself, trip after trip.

The skipper sits in the cockpit the night before departure with a laptop: a spreadsheet for the shared kitty, a packing list copied from a forum, a shopping list guessed from the number of people on board, a route sketched in a chat group, and a handover checklist that exists only in his head. Half the crew has questions he has already answered twice in three different chats.

The tools all existed. They just never talked to each other, and none of them knew anything about sailing.

Skipper Connect was built by a sailor who got tired of that evening. Every module started as a problem from a real trip: the deposit lost over a scratch nobody photographed, the crew member whose allergy surfaced at the supermarket, the sea miles that were never properly logged.

The underlying idea is simple: anything that is organised is one less thing to worry about. Crews worry about the unknown, skippers worry about being trusted. A tidy trip is a good trip.
