The purpose is not iOS 13. But even iOS 17 is hard to use swiftdata on. And many deploy still to iOS 17 or 16. But for me the draw is: - Can use this outside views, unlike SwiftData - Can adopt future improvements without waiting on annual release cycle + several more years until I can sunset older OS compatibility - Performance: SwiftData has severe performance issues that are manageable with SQLite -... - Source: Hacker News / 16 days ago
Itโs not really double, something closer to 1.25x. The bulk of the work is on whatever platform you first implemented the UI on, because thatโs where rubber hits the road and you run into things like assumptions the designer made breaking. On the second platform all thatโs already done and you just need to replicate. Besides that, in your typical CRUD app the UI really shouldnโt be the hard part anyway.... - Source: Hacker News / 21 days ago

Flutter has a lot of issues, it is non-native everywhere, married to Dart which is an even more niche language than Swift, and can have noticeable lag. Also, the important parts of Skip Tools are open source. https://skip.tools/. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago

> You need to keep up with the native UI across all the platforms. (Or, of course, you don't, in which case there are gaps, bugs, inconsistency, jank, etc.) And for the latter, the result is something that mostly does what web-based solutions do (with their known downsides), only with virtually no ecosystem in comparison. I do think there are opportunities for great cross-platform native development... - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
