Social recommendations and mentions

We have tracked the following product recommendations or mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you see what people think about SiteGround and what they use it for.
  • HELP me please! I think I messed up.
Go to siteground.com. Buy hosting. Add your domain. Use their managed WordPress tools to install a new site. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Looking for the best web hosting service for my new website
SiteGround is another one. I've heard it's fast and doesn't have much downtime. But some say when it's time to pay again, the price goes up a lot. Is it worth it? Source: almost 3 years ago
  • New to WordPress
Don't use wordpress.com. Use wordpress.org. Buy a hosting package from siteground.com and you'll have a super easy one-click install without having to pay for a bunch of WordPress features that are actually free. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Phishing fail
Red flag #1: There's no reason their domain should be in the To field or mine in the Reply-To field. Red flag #2: The email doesn't come from siteground.com Red flag #3: The From address misspells "postmaster" as "postmassr" Red flag #4: The aggressive tone - they're going to delete my domain in 48 hours? Please. Red flag #5: Weird English. "In the event of non-payment or ignorance." Red flag #6: The link... Source: over 3 years ago
  • Using private email for author contact deets on article
It is fine to use a private email in this way. However, you might want to get your own domain just because it looks more professional. I have a domain set up through siteground.com that's my first initial and last name (e.g., bsmith for Bob Smithโ€”obviously anonymized). My email address is [me@bsmith.com](mailto:me@bsmith.com). It's clean, clear, short, and I retain control over the domain and server. Source: over 3 years ago
  • How did everyone got smtp working? I asked in community, unfortunately, no one seems to respond. Is it a forbidden topic?
I'm running this on siteground.com, it's a hosting company. Source: about 4 years ago
  • SaaS php script and WordPress on the same server
The other comment implies this is messy and crappy. It's quite standard and has been for sometime. It's nowhere near messy. It's quite basic. Increasing the number of servers you have will increase your administration and if you're new this is not that advisable. HOWEVER, WordPress is well known for getting hacked. The plugins that you use may contain security vulnerabilities and you may end up getting hacked.... Source: about 4 years ago
  • Updating older posts sends out an email to readers
I don't think you're understanding correctly. Wordpress.org and Wordpress.com are basically the same underlying platform except Wordpress.com charges you a bunch of money and restricts features, while Wordpress.org does not. With Wordpress.org you will have to find separate hosting (siteground.com as an example). Source: over 4 years ago
  • Why are most web hosting sites horribly designed?
Not all hosting websites are horribly designed at least for me , I find : hostgator.com siteground.com xtreamcoderz.com and some other really simple and beautiful. Source: almost 5 years ago
  • Hello guys.. I am sad..
I parked my domain to siteground.com. Source: about 5 years ago
  • Website Security Best Practices
I am in need of a professional that can secure a new WordPress site that is hosted on siteground.com. Is Fiverr an appropriate site to find a person that harden my server using best practices. This is beyond the scope of my expertise so I'm looking for someone I can trust to do this work. Source: about 5 years ago
  • PLEASE stop using Blogger/Wix/Squarespace
As a hosting provider, I chose siteground.com, but I am not sure it s the best option. I do this just for fun, so I might be very wrong. You ll have to do your own research. Source: about 5 years ago

Summary of the public mentions of SiteGround

SiteGround consistently emerges as a noteworthy player in the web hosting industry, garnering both praise and critique from its user base. As a provider, it spans a range of hosting solutions including web, cloud, WordPress, and dedicated hosting, positioning itself alongside major competitors like Bluehost, HostGator, and GoDaddy.

Key Strengths

  1. Performance and Speed: A prominent highlight of SiteGround's offerings is its performance capabilities. Powered by Google Cloud infrastructure and utilizing SSD storage, it ensures fast and reliable hosting services. Users frequently praise its high uptime and robust performance, which are critical factors for websites with heavy traffic or complex infrastructure.

  2. Security Features: SiteGround is lauded for its comprehensive suite of security tools. With offerings such as daily backups, free SSL certificates, and a proprietary site scanner, it provides a preventive approach to malware and other security threats. This attention to security bodes well for clients aiming to maintain secure online environments without extensive technical intervention.

  3. Customer Support: SiteGround is often recognized for its high-quality customer service, available 24/7. Its support team is reputed for effectiveness and quick resolution times, making it a favorable choice for beginners and businesses needing reliable support.

  4. Developer Tools and Features: The customization and toolset available, including the Site Tools dashboard, allow users to manage files, domains, and emails efficiently. These tools are particularly beneficial for WordPress users, evident from its standing as a WordPress-recommended provider.

Common Criticisms

  1. Pricing Structure: One of the primary areas of criticism involves its billing practices, particularly the disparity between introductory offers and renewal prices. While SiteGround is transparent about these differences on its website, this pricing model is a common critique across the industry, not exclusive to SiteGround.

  2. Cost vs. Competitors: While SiteGround delivers high value, some users feel the cost is higher compared to competitors like Hostinger and Greengeeks, which offer similar features at more economical rates. The pricing, while reflective of quality, can be a deciding factor for price-sensitive customers.

  3. Conversion Rates for Affiliates: In terms of affiliate marketing, SiteGround's conversion rates are noted to be modest when juxtaposed with other industry players. However, the affiliate program remains attractive, thanks to favorable commission structures.

Market Perception

Overall, the market perceives SiteGround as a stable, high-performance hosting provider that excels in customer support and security. It stands out for its reliability, although its pricing may deter budget-conscious users. The strategic enhancements in infrastructure and a focus on WordPress tools reinforce its place as a preferred choice for many website owners, especially those requiring robust performance and security features. Despite stiff competition, SiteGround's clear positioning on service quality ensures it remains a compelling option for varied hosting needs.
