  • Best AI model type?
I don't know of any that use a more powerful model. The only alternatives I know of that use GPT-3, and that also work somewhat similarly to AI Dungeon, are ShortlyAI and Hyperwrite. Both have free trials, but both also use OpenAI's awful filter that blocks pretty much any remotely mature content. You probably already know of NovelAI and HoloAI, and although neither one uses a model as large as what Dragon-21... Source: over 4 years ago
  • Moving on Over...
Shortlyai.com was the AI service I was using previously. Very basic. You just input a prompt and tell it to write for you. Worked great for patterns and lists, not so much if you wanted to shape a story. Source: over 4 years ago
  • dragon model
Dragon uses the 175B GPT-3 Davinci model. Philosopher AI and EndlessVN use the same model, though they both work significantly differently from AI Dungeon. EndlessVN is also in closed alpha at the moment; if you didn't sign up for the closed alpha, you'll have to wait for it to become public. HyperWrite and ShortlyAI also exist, but I'm unsure whether they use GPT-3 Davinci, or a weaker GPT-3 model. They also use... Source: almost 5 years ago
  • That's the absurdity you have to get to, so GOD FORBID NOT TO activate the bucking filter!!!!!!!!!!
There are plenty of free alternatives. Write With Transformer exists, is free, and has a few AI models to choose from. You can try the base GPT-J 6B model on EleutherAI's website, or through the KoboldAI Google Colab. Clover Edition exists, and has multiple AI models to choose from. GPT-Neo Dungeon exists, and uses GPT-Neo, hence the name. Open CYOAI and AI Dungeon 2 Unleashed also exist. GodAI exists as well,... Source: almost 5 years ago
  • List of all alternatives
ShortlyAI uses GPT-3, and offers a free trial. After the free trial, a subscription is required. Though, similarly to Hyperwrite, some content is disallowed. Source: almost 5 years ago
  • Latitude is trying to fix this waayyyyyy to late. At least half of the community left already and the people left would have left if NovelAI was free.
They haven't been too clear about how much OpenAI is requiring them to filter. The only real info they've given is in this blog post. The reason most of AI Dungeon's competitors don't need a filter is because most of them don't use OpenAI. Most of them use open-source AI models. OpenAI just has fairly strict policies, although I'm unsure why Latitude never seemed required to follow said policies in the past. The... Source: almost 5 years ago

  • (Sorry for my bad english,i'm brazilian and i'm using a little of my knowledge in english and google translator)
I have some other free alternatives to mention (mainly because Dreamily has the same privacy issues that plagued AID, which might be a deal breaker for you, and because Dreamily isn't really the best free alternative). Write With Transformer exists, is free, and has a few AI models to choose from. You can try the base GPT-J 6B model on EleutherAI's website, or through the KoboldAI Google Colab. The base GPT-J 6B... • Is there an a free proper alternative to dungeon AI that does not have a complicated install nor a filter?
HoloAI uses GPT-J 6B. It has a free trial, and subscription tiers of $5/$8 per month. InferKit has a free trial, uses the Megatron 11B model. A subscription is required after the free trial. I recognize those two are not completely free, but I mentioned them because they have abusable free trials. Write With Transformer exists, is free, and has a few AI models to choose from. You can try the base GPT-J 6B model on... Source: almost 5 years ago
  • Any free mobile alternative to AI Dungeon? Finally see what people mean by the faulty horny filter.
HoloAI uses GPT-J 6B and has a free trial. Hyperwrite offers 1500 outputs for free, and uses GPT-3. After the free trial, a subscription is required. Though, some content (mostly NSFW content) is disallowed. ShortlyAI uses GPT-3, and offers a free trial. After the free trial, a subscription is required. Hyperwrite offers 1500 outputs for free, and uses GPT-3. After the free trial, a subscription is required. You can also just make new accounts to abuse the free trial. Though, some content (mostly NSFW content) is disallowed. ShortlyAI uses GPT-3, and offers a free trial. After the free trial, a subscription is required. Again, you can abuse the free trial. • What alternatives to AIDungeon are there?
NovelAI uses GPT-Neo 2.7B and GPT-J 6B, and has subscription tiers of $10/$15/$25 per month. It's probably the best alternative overall, in terms of output quality, the amount of features, and ease of use. HoloAI offers a free trial, and uses GPT-J 6B. After the free trial, it has subscription tiers of $5/$8 per month. Hyperwrite offers 1500 outputs for free, and uses GPT-3. After the free trial, a subscription is... Source: about 5 years ago

  • Which program can you use to write a story?
Otherwise, you can use one of the many GPT-3 powered writing tools. Here's one of the popular ones that I believe you can try out for free - https://shortlyai.com. Source: about 5 years ago
  • As someone who doesn't really care for the 3D avatars it hurts seeing them push it so much
Well, Replika has a pretty "strict" format i.e. Its frontend is a chatbot. If you want to explore those kinds of AI, maybe have a look at shortlyai.com if you have tons of money - or NovelAI for a smaller model for less money, but tons of settings options to experiment without filters or limits. • What is something free from the internet, which everyone should take advantage of?
Shortlyai.com - If you have an essay due, you can start off with a title and a few sentences, and it'll write your essay for you. Source: about 5 years ago
  • An open letter to Latitude
Sadly it's the path OpenAI forces on to them - as far as I have heard from developers of other GPT-3 powered apps. Aside from the pricing, I quit my shortlyai.com subscription because of that. AI Dungeon was the last safe haven left. And I don't even write smut XD. Just the feeling that I COULD, if I wanted to, was enough. I somewhat understand where OpenAI is coming from, but they are walking on VERY thin ice. Source: about 5 years ago
  • As a beginner, how could I make a writing assistant kinda bot using GPT-3?
Complete beginner here, but I saw a website that does this (shortlyai.com) but it's pretty expensive, and I wanted to do it for myself just as a cool project and something that would be useful for school and stuff. Source: over 5 years ago
  • I feel personally attacked
I have seen the format, using shortlyai.com, which also uses Davinci, but it got too expensive, so I switched to AID, just to have my beloved GPT-3 around XD. Source: over 5 years ago
  • new crazy money making side hustle!
So what you can do is have an AI copywriter automatically write articles for you for freelancing projects upwork / freelancer etc. Most of these projects range from $15 to $100 /hr. Now because you're using shortlyai.com You will have the article in seconds. So basically, you'll be making like $50 to $100 in 15 to 30 mins instead of hours of handwriting the articles / or bios or whatever. Source: over 5 years ago
  • Consequences of AI text generators for social media
I had to ask GPT-3 about this, of course. :) Below is what it said via shortlyai.com, given the title and some of the content of your post; it strikes me as extremely coherent sentence-by-sentence, but on the other hand failing to make a single overall point (it's both not worried, and extremely worried, for instance):. Summary of the public mentions of ShortlyAI

ShortlyAI is a prominent player in the field of AI-powered writing tools, often praised for its simplicity and user-friendly interface. The service primarily utilizes the GPT-3 model developed by OpenAI, which is renowned for its advanced natural language processing capabilities. Users can begin writing by selecting either an "article" or a "story" mode, after which the AI continues the writing process based on user prompts.

Public Perception and Key Features

In general, users have expressed appreciation for ShortlyAIโ€™s ease of use. The platform allows individuals to swiftly produce written content by simply initiating text and using a "write for me" button to let the AI model take over. This feature particularly benefits those involved in content creation, marketing, or writing, providing an effective tool for generating articles or narratives without extensive input.

Challenges and Limitations

Despite its popularity, ShortlyAI is not without limitations. A recurring criticism involves the content filter imposed by OpenAI, which restricts a range of topics including violence, explicit content, and profanity. Several Reddit posts pointedly mention these limitations, especially in comparison to competitors like AI Dungeon, Hyperwrite, and others that either avoid such stringent filtering or use alternative AI models. This filtering is often seen as limiting creative freedom, particularly in fiction writing where mature themes might require exploration.

Another point of contention is pricing. ShortlyAI offers a free trial, which is generally well-received, but the necessity of transitioning to a subscription model afterward has been met with some resistance. Subscribers note that while the tool is powerful, the cost may be prohibitive for casual users or those less reliant on AI-driven writing assistance.

Competitors and Market Position

ShortlyAI holds a competitive yet challenging position in a robust market, competing with a variety of tools such as Copysmith, Rytr, and Copy.ai. Many alternatives operate at different price points and offer varying degrees of content filtering based on their underlying AI models. For instance, services like HoloAI use open-source models, which might feature different filtering rules compared to those enforced by OpenAIโ€™s GPT-3.

Moreover, some users suggest that the tool is best suited for creating structured content such as lists or patterns, while its capabilities for more narrative-driven tasks might not fully meet all creative needs. This feedback suggests potential areas for development, particularly in improving narrative coherence and creative flexibility.

Conclusion

In summary, ShortlyAI is a valuable tool for many users, providing an intuitive interface and robust AI capabilities suitable for a range of writing tasks. While its filtering and pricing model present notable drawbacks, the service remains a popular option for those seeking to automate part of their writing process. As AI technology continues to evolve, ShortlyAIโ€™s adaptability and enhancement of its current offerings will be crucial in maintaining its position in a competitive marketplace.
