Choose a shortener: Pick a link shortener that fits your needs---many offer options like custom branding, QR code creation, and analytics. Ziplink, Short.io, and Bitly are all capable of that. If you are looking for something really simple, you may want to check out TinyURL as well. - Source: dev.to / 6 months ago
Same, but a little more elegant is short.io. It's a link shortener, but with a $19/month plan you can add a ton of customization to your links. One of those being limit on clicks. Same problem here that the file is still hosted elsewhere and available if they happen to copy the URL from the address bar. Source: over 2 years ago

They also said that since they are a 3rd party service, I don't need to have a privacy policy on my redirection domain. I am not sure about that, because Google Analytics requires one (even if all my domain does is... Source: over 3 years ago

Short.io, formerly known as Short.cm, has emerged as a notable player in the realm of URL shortening and link management services. The platform has gained traction among users seeking versatile and robust tools for managing URLs, which include capabilities for branded URLs, geo-targeting, link expiration, QR code creation, and advanced analytics. This rebranding to Short.io is part of the platform's strategic effort to broaden its vision and appeal to a global audience.
Many users appreciate Short.io for its affordability, diverse feature offerings, and reliable customer support. The service is often compared favorably against competitors like Bitly, Rebrandly, and TinyURL, being highlighted as a powerful alternative. Short.io's customization of links through branded domains and advanced features like smart link routing is particularly valued among users who need more than basic URL shortening. Users have also noted Short.io's efficiency in offering detailed link statistics, which is crucial for businesses and marketers trying to monitor link performance effectively.
Conversations in various forums and articles underline the platform's wide appeal, particularly for those needing tailored link management services at different pricing levelsโranging from a free basic plan to more advanced subscription tiers. The availability of a free plan enables potential users to explore its fundamental capabilities without financial commitment. Meanwhile, the Personal, Team, and Enterprise plans with tiered pricing provide more advanced tools and analytics, catering to a broader business need.
Despite its strengths, some users have reported limitations. For instance, Short.io currently imposes restrictions on domain TLDs (Top-Level Domains), which may discourage potential users seeking to utilize alternative TLDs with the service. This TLD restrictiveness indicates a gap that Short.io might need to address to enhance its appeal further.
Furthermore, certain functionalities and components, such as the sign-up page, have been at times reported as temporarily inaccessible or flawed, which might detract from the user experience. However, Short.io's commitment to regulatory compliance, particularly GDPR, reassures users concerned about privacy and legal risks, especially those involved in affiliate marketing or businesses requiring GDPR adherence.
Overall, Short.io presents itself as a compelling choice for individuals and businesses seeking comprehensive link management solutions. Its combination of advanced features, competitive pricing, and customer support makes it a formidable competitor in the crowded space of URL shorteners. While there is room for improvement concerning ease of use and domain flexibility, the platform remains well-regarded, particularly for users who aim to leverage branded URLs and detailed analytics effectively.
