IMO, Pinkbike is the way to go. You pay a bit of a premium, but its not much and there are great deals to be had too. Also, I've been using searchtempest.com to search CL nationwide and I have found some golden deals this way. My best find was a Santa Cruz Highball frame, with carbon bars, carbon seat post, and a headset that was basically brand new for $1000. I also bought a NIB XX1 cassette priced at dealer cost. When I'm looking for a used bike, I use pinkbike.com and searchtempest.com to search nationwide. In most cases, you are beholden to the market if you limit your search locally. You get what you get. Searching nationwide is how you do it. Source: over 1 year ago
In my area I've seen 11 speed red AXS groups pop up for $900 and less and just sit unsold for weeks. If you are going to go DA, I'd suggest going to 9100, and the rim brake di2 stuff sells for surprisingly cheap. I use searchtempest.com to find stuff on craigslist all over the country. Its been great and you can get some killer deals. Just gotta convince people to ship and obviously you are assuming some risk not... Source: over 1 year ago
I've been using searchtempest.com to scour multiple localities on Craigslist all at once -- no luck so far. Will check out OfferUp, thanks! Source: almost 2 years ago
Sure, a full sized lathe would be really nice, but there should be plenty of used mid-sized lathes in your price range. You would need to be patient. Keep checking Craigslist regularly. If you are willing to drive, you can check craigslist nationally or within what ever mileage you want by looking on searchtempest.com. I also look at publicsurplus.org, and you can similarly put in your acceptable mileage... Source: about 2 years ago
Your money will go further with buying it private party, but you have to work harder to find a good buy. searchtempest.com is a good craigslist aggregator where you can set a distance you're willing to go from home. I have found good deals in Fredricksburg and Manassas etc before, but let them know you're bringing your own financing and agree to a price pending inspection so you don't waste time. What is your desired budget? Remember, you may need to spend as much or more for chisels and chucks as for an inexpensive lathe. I suggest looking on publicsurplus.com auctions within whatever distance you are willing to drive. Also, you can look on craigslist outside your immediate city by using searchtempest.com and putting in a distance range. I would actually recommend waiting till you have enough money to... Between eBay, pink bike, searchtempest.com, and going deep into the google search results, I had the full group assembled (yes, on the bike ready to ride) within a month, all brand new parts. Most of the parts came from smaller bike shops throughout the US. For a couple of the parts, I needed to call the bike shop, confirm they had the component, and politely asked them to ship and I paid over the phone with a CC.... Source: over 2 years ago
If you aren't able to locate this exact car, you may be able to find a similar one of the same year. Check out hemmings.com and also searchtempest.com it's a database of all of the Craigslists in the US. I'm a big vintage car fan and feel for you! Source: over 2 years ago

Very nice....Thanks for this.....I use searchtempest.com also for all Craigslist listings across the nation.....I believe they also include Mexico and Canada....Since Craigslist started charging for car ads it pretty much got rid of the dealers who was flooding it with ads....Auto parts and wheels ads still free though...
