  I think it's easier to understand with something like https://scribblediffusion.com/. It generates a picture based on your scribble with a bunch of stuff that wasn't in your scribble. The moon "enhancement" is the same idea, it takes your blurry no detail moon picture (the scribble) and generates a high quality moon picture (the full image) based on it. Source: about 2 years ago
