Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing ScanPix.
  1. What makes ScanPix unique?

ScanPix connects the whole chain instead of stopping at a PDF. You capture a document or a product with a phone camera, ScanPix reads it, files it and makes it searchable, and then you can act on it in the same place: build a branded catalogue, let a buyer order from it straight into your own WhatsApp, turn that order into a quotation, collect documents from clients through a request link, e-sign and stamp, and keep every record tied to the customer it belongs to. Scanner apps stop at the PDF, document suites don't capture well on a phone, catalogue makers are single-purpose and billing tools start at the invoice. ScanPix is also unusual in letting a business keep its files in its own storage - its own AWS S3, an S3-compatible service, Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive - so the data ownership promise is checkable rather than a slogan.

  2. Why should a person choose ScanPix over its competitors?

Choose ScanPix when the scan is only the beginning. Everything a small or medium business does after capture sits in one place: automatic text recognition and field extraction so nothing is retyped, search inside the page itself, folders and custom document types, ten designed catalogue layouts with price modes and quantity-tier pricing, buyer orders that arrive in your own WhatsApp with no app or account needed by the buyer, one-tap quotations, document request links that replace the email chase, e-signatures and stamps, teams with real roles, and sync across iOS, Android and web. It is also deliberate about scope and about data: quotations rather than GST invoices, running balances rather than double-entry accounting, no third-party trackers in the logged-in dashboard, nothing sold or mined, and the option to keep files in your own cloud storage. Choose a dedicated scanner app if you only need image-to-PDF, a full DMS if you need enterprise records management and formal certifications, or a billing suite if GST e-invoicing is the main job.

  3. How would you describe the primary audience of ScanPix?

Small and medium businesses that still run on paper, camera rolls and chat threads - owners and their teams rather than IT departments. In practice that means shop owners and traders, wholesalers and distributors, manufacturers and exporters, and professional practices such as accountants, lawyers and consultants, plus office and operations staff who file and retrieve everything. Around 39 industry use cases are covered, including goldsmiths and jewellers, grocery and kirana stores, automobile dealers, real estate, logistics and field operations, textiles and apparel, education, healthcare administration, photographers, gyms and NGOs. The first users are India-first - WhatsApp-led sharing, rupee pricing, khata-style balances - and the product ships in English worldwide. Individuals also use it to keep receipts, IDs and warranties findable.

  4. What's the story behind ScanPix?

ScanPix started from a simple observation about how working businesses actually operate: the records they depend on live in a phone gallery, a teammate's chat, an email thread and a desk drawer at the same time, so the version you need is always on the device that is switched off. Products are twenty loose photos with prices typed into a chat. Invoice numbers and amounts are locked inside images, so someone retypes them into a spreadsheet. Collecting a set of documents from a client turns into days of reminders. Scanning was never the hard part - what happens after the scan is. So the team at GTS Infosoft LLP built a workspace rather than another scanner: capture with a phone, read and file it automatically, then act on it - catalogue, order, quotation, request, signature - with the whole chain connected. The second conviction was that a business's data belongs to the business, which is why export, deletion and connecting your own storage are all in the product, so the promise can be tested rather than trusted.

  5. Which are the primary technologies used for building ScanPix?

ScanPix is built as native mobile apps plus a web application rather than a wrapper around one codebase: native iOS and Android clients handle camera capture, edge detection and perspective correction, and a full web dashboard covers the same workspace in the browser, with one account, real-time sync and cloud backup behind them.

Image work runs where the file already is - background removal for product photos is processed on the device on mobile and in the browser on the web, and the free utilities at scanpix.io/tools (for example JPG to PDF) run entirely client-side so files never leave the device. Text recognition runs once in the background when a document is created and the recognised text is stored with it, so search reads stored text instead of reprocessing images on demand; field extraction then maps that text into typed fields.

Storage is pluggable. Files sit in ScanPix-managed cloud storage by default, or in a business's own AWS S3 bucket with role-based least-privilege access, any S3-compatible service such as MinIO, Cloudflare R2, Wasabi or Backblaze B2, or an app-scoped folder in Google Drive, Dropbox or Microsoft OneDrive. Those connections use standard OAuth consent or guided credential setup, and uploads are integrity-verified with checksums. Sign-in supports email, Google, Apple and Microsoft. Catalogue sharing uses opaque, non-sequential public links; catalogue orders hand off to the seller's own WhatsApp through a wa.me link rather than a messaging API. Subscription checkout on the web runs through Razorpay, alongside the Apple and Google app stores.
